Well laid out
This book was a significant aide in developing basic counseling skills. The text was easy to follow, and not painful to read like many textbooks can be.

Great book but got a misprint
Great book! Definitely has great advice to help graduate students learn the skills needed to be an effective counselor. Only giving it 4 stars cause I noticed 3 months later that a chapter on my book misprinted and cut off.

Where is the book I returned
I used this book for a college course. Though, I have been receiving daily e-mails stating to return the book. Yet, this book has been returned over a week ago, and have no clue what else to do.

Great resource for students
I needed this book for my master's program and I am glad a I bought a hard copy. I've used it as a resources so many times over the past few months and definitely see myself using it in the future. It is easy to read, has great examples and I love the "stop and reflect" section where the book encourages you to think about what you have just read. Would definitely recommend to any counselling psychology students!

Beware of Counterfeit
I bought this book for a class with about 20 other people. Anyone who bought from Amazon Prime got an "Authentic Pearson" textbook. 5 people in class who bought from the "other sources" from Amazon were knockoffs. When we compared the difference, there was a big difference in quality. The text was blurry, the pages weren't cut straight.

The writing style is comfortable to read and there are numerous examples to illustrate ...
Although this text was mandatory reading for a grad level Psych course, and is part of the Pearson learning "toolbox" it is a worthwhile reference book. The writing style is comfortable to read and there are numerous examples to illustrate the topics being presented. As the copyright is 2017 it is certainly relevant. The concepts in the book are well laid out and developed in a way that each concept builds on the last. Now if they could just soften the price.
