Vintage Style Cast Iron Twine and Shears Set (Black Rack Set)

The stand is nice and heavy duty, exactly what I was looking for. I also like that I can mount it on the wall which was key for me! The scissors however? They won’t cut ANYTHING! It’s kind of disappointing to have to use a separate set of scissors. They aren’t sharp or put together tight enough.

* This twine holder was purchased to help my wife wrap butchers' twine around turkeys & meat roasts.As received, all three holder nuts were loose causing the thimble arm, as well as the twine spool, to wriggle. A pair of pliers corrected the nuts' tightness. When drawing the sample jute twine [supplied with the holder] the unit worked perfectly.* As soon as I switched to REGENCY COOKING TWINE, the holder's stability problems became obvious. It appears that the holder's spring retainer wire cannot spread wide enough to grip the bottom edge of the the twine's winding cone. The retainer spring is restrained by a slot [in the cast iron base] to spread up to 1.50" ...but the inside diameter of the winding cone measures 1.75". A simple, but expensive, solution is to hire a machine shop to mill the slot about .38" longer. An alternate solution might be to hire a creative blacksmith to form an offset spring that grips the 1.75" cone without re-milling the slot.

I was so excited about this! When I first looked at it, it seemed to be wonderful but then I packed it away until my office was completed. Today, construction is done and I unpacked this adorable little thing. When I pulled the twine, the roll fell off the table. THIS is why I wanted this to begin with! To AVOID this. After looking closer and watching the video, I realized that the metal thing that went in the center of the twine to keep it from rolling away, was wedged inside the twine that was included with the holder. So basically, this is useless! AND the main arm is wiggly. I can't return it because I bought it too long ago. I wish I would have looked closer when I unpacked it the first time but I was moving and just looked quick. There are soooo many bad reviews. I wish I would have seen them before I wasted my money. At least my dogs will be glad when my twine rolls across the floor all the time. Silver lining??? Ughh!!!

Missing a washer/bolt and had no instructions. Hit up my garage and found something to make it work... but it took us a while to figure out which way to put it so that the string would sit flat. Other than that.. I use it often for my business... it's heavy and sturdy and doesnt fall over when you pull the string. I really like it and I'm glad I have it.
