You can't build a better mouse trap!
I have had quite a few different design mouse traps over the years. This one works! It has a hair trigger, so the slightest attempt by that critter to take the cheese and he's done for. These are good quality for a low price. They set easily if you aren't ham fisted. I like the bait paddle design as it holds the bait well making the little guy work for it, which you want. So far I haven't seen any bait eaten without a catch. Pro tip: try using store brand Velveeta as bait. It really sticks to the paddle. Of course, if you're feeling boojey by all means use the name brand.

Effective Mouse Trap
The small mouse in my room was killed today finally after about 2 weeks trying with rodent repellant, traps etc. without success. This Tomcat Wooden Mouse Trap was easy to setup with just a small piece of sweet sponge cake

Work okay but there are better traps out there
These work fine. The mice were much more attracted to the plastic traps i bought with the jagged teeth. One of these wooden traps failed to go off and the dang mouse took my bait. The plastic traps attracted more mice and worked 100% of the time.

Traps need modifications to work effectively due to poor quality control in manufacturing.
I live in the woods and deer mice and field mice are everywhere. Several years back I had a lot of wonderful rain which produced a bumper crop of pinion seeds a couple years later. This caused an explosion of many rodents and mice were no exception. I have used these types of traps successfully for years and this year I trapped so many darn mice it was almost beyond comprehension. Unfortunately, sometimes when you have trapped a mouse, some other critter carries it off, taking your trap with it and not usually found. So, I had to buy some more traps. This last package I received are poorly made with the metal arm too long to provide any sensitivity to the trap pan which has resulted in my bait being eaten without the trap being tripped. I have now modified some of the components in order for the trap to function more effectively. Time will tell whether I catch any mice or not. Thus, the quality control of the traps does not seem to be what it used to be and I should not have to modify a trap to get it to work as it should. Therefore, three stars for the product.

The "Yellow Pedal" makes all the difference-classic design, zero failure rate.
I’ve tried the fancy plastic "no-touch" traps and the electronic zappers, but I keep coming back to these classic wooden Tomcat traps for one reason: sensitivity. The Trigger (Why these are better): Old-school traps used a tiny metal latch that was impossible to set without snapping your finger. These use a large, yellow plastic pedal. • Sensitivity: You don't have to force the mouse to tug on the bait. The pedal is sensitive enough that even the weight of a mouse stepping on it triggers the snap. • Safety Setting: It is significantly easier to set these without anxiety. You bait it, pull the bar back, and it clicks into the plastic slot with a definitive hold. The "Disposable" Reality: The best part about these is the price point. If you catch a mouse, you don't have to deal with the gross task of releasing it and scrubbing the trap. The wood is porous and absorbs odors/fluids anyway, so I just toss the entire trap—mouse and all—into the trash. It’s worth the few dollars to avoid the cleanup. Pro Tip for Success: Don't just put a glob of peanut butter on the pedal; they can sometimes lick it off. I smear a little peanut butter on, then press a single piece of dog food or a nut into the peanut butter. It forces them to work for it, which guarantees a trigger. Verdict: Simple, cheap, and lethal. If you have a serious problem, don't waste time with "humane" or "easy-set" plastic gadgets. These are the gold standard for a reason.

Definitely get the job done
They did what they were supposed to do. I would definitely recommend watching a video on how to set it tho. There’s a way to set it to a more sensitive setting that I was unaware of until recently. I read the directions wrong which is why I said watch a video on setting these. Once you learn how to properly set them they are easy to use, and they work great. They caught all the mice in my house right away. They can be tricky and dangerous to set so adults should set and handle these. They are durable and work as advertised. I’m not sure why you’d clean them after use?? I just threw them away with the mouse in it. I would not reuse it.
