Peace Is Every Breath: Mindful Eating, Mindful Life

Great book!
I like how each chapter is super short and directly addresses a point. As I have been struggling with mental illness and using this to help me return to my centered and grounded space, the ease of just picking it up and reading just one or two pages and getting a full teaching concept is so valuable!

A bit short given the price, still good
Given the price, I was surprised when I came to the end of the book much sooner than I expected. The book was pretty good, the wordings simple and the teaching easy to understand. It was like a breath of fresh air that calmed me and brought me peace. As with all things in life, I attracted this book into my life just when I needed it, so although I felt that it was a bit short I'd still say it was worth it and I'd recommend it to anyone who is looking for inner peace.

Valuable insight to comprehensive stress management
I was in my local library looking for a book to manage stress that was not "wordy". I picked this one up, (still have it at home), and immediately ordered my own copy. I knew I would be referring to it for the rest of my life. If you are like me, as I start each chapter my mind goes "Yeah, but..." and by the time I am finished it is clear. The breathing techniques this monk describes are simple and make sense. I use them everyday now and try to stay in the moment. If you have a horrible childhood that effects you to this day, maybe this will be of some help. It puts things in perspective and provides a way to look at life I had not considered. AND helps me clear my brain when trying to go to sleep...worth every penny.

Simple and direct
I bought this book as recommended by a friend who also starting to practice mindfullness. I enjoy the simple yet well thought out lessons and excercises. I have already read "The Monks and Me" which is an awsome book written by Mary Paterson journalizing her stay at Plum Village, France, Hanh's Buddhist Monestary. Her book helps you see how Thich Nhat Hanh's lessons can be applied to real life situations. I recommend both books highly. These and other tools I hope will help me slow down, be less stressed and return to the joy of the moment...every breath.

One of the very best books we own - and that's saying a lot!
This is one of most refreshing books I've ever read, quite frankly. It is the ONLY book, outside of personal copies of our scriptures, that my wife and I have purchased two copies so we could each have our own - it's that good. It's very easy reading, and can be read small bits at a time or straight through with ease. If you've ever even thought about using breathing meditation, whether you're interested in the "Zen" philosophy or not, this is a truly great read. There is a 21 minute YouTube video of the author being interviewed by Oprah Winfrey. I do not enjoy watching Oprah, yet that did not detract from the video in any way for me. I highly recommend it! (There are shorter extracts of it - be sure to watch the 21 minute version from her Super Soul Sunday program.) Thich Nhat Hanh is truly one of a kind, and in his mid-80s, is a soon-to-be-lost world treasure. I wish I'd learned about him decades ago. (My wife could not be any more positive either - so this deserves a double 5-star rating, since we purchased two copies.)

You are here
Another beautifully done book by Thich Nhat Hanh. Today in the fast paced world that we live in, it's hard to be mindful. People are so consumed with the past and future that we rarely focus on the present moment. As a Buddhist I try my best to be in the present moment , but it's hard.thich Nhat Hanh teaches us simple ways to always be present . Things as simple as brushing our teeth, making tea, getting dressed. These are all wonderful ways to become more mindful. I would highly recommend this book to anyone!

A wonderful introductory book on the practice of mindfulness
A wonderful introductory book on the practice of mindfulness. Venerable Thich Nhat Hanh writes in a way that is derived from Buddhist roots, but accessible to people of all backgrounds and religions, especially those without any exposure to Buddhism. This book does not go into lofty philosophy or delve deep into Buddhism at all, but is more a practical guide for peace and calmness in daily life. At the end are appendices with practical exercises. Definitely a great read for beginners, but also an amazing refresher for experienced practitioners. However, reading is not enough - one must put the advice into daily wholesome actions of body, speech, and mind.

「忙しい人」 が日常生活で瞑想を実践するための本
日常の起床から歯磨き、食事、仕事、等々・・・すべての瞑想とその偈を載せてあります。著者の前著"The Miracle of Mindfulness" と "Peace Is Every Step" を、読みやすく実行しやすくした続篇です。どの項も、文章は短く構文は平易なので短時間で読めます。内容はもちろんですが、英文を毛筆で書いた幾つかの偈がユニークで(日本人の私には)心に染みました。
