This mixer is great. It is very strong
This mixer is great. It is very strong. It will power through the thickest dough we put in it. The soft start feature is one of the best things about it. After 3 1/2 years of use this thing is as good as it was when it was new. The paint has not dulled and all parts are still in place. I know people that have 25+ years into a KitchenAid and they are still going. This model still has the metal gears and better bearings. You can't go wrong with one of these.

I got such a good price on this mixer
I got such a good price on this mixer, I felt like Amazon gave this to me. It's the smallest version with the lift bowl, but will get a lot of use out of it while I am on a culinary externship. What isn't there to love about KitchenAid? They last for decades if you care for them properly and they make wonderful gifts. Used extensively today to mix up cake batter and frostings. The paddle works great. The whisk, doesn't have the depth on low speeds, but incorporates everything pretty well on higher speeds, or you can use your rubber spatula to ensure that everything is pretty well mixed in between ingredients. Not disappointed with this purchase.

Worth the investment if you are wanting to bake
Kitchen Aid stand mixers are the gold standard, and this product is no exception. I usually make bread once a week, and use this for non-baking things like mashing potatoes, mixing meatloaf, and making stuffing for pastries or gyoza. It's easy to use and works well.

No better can be purchased !!!
Mixer is meeting all expectations. Works beautifully in the bread making department.I highly reccomend this machine. It is stout, as quiet as expected and is easy to disassemble for clean up. I recommend this machine. Wish we had purchased this unit years ago. Another thing I would say. We purchased our Son and his Bride a Kitchen Aid for their wedding present in 1986. Their Kitchen Aid is still in perfect working order. Thank you Kitchen Aid.JSG

I do love this KitchenAid
I do love this KitchenAid. I most often use it for kneading bread, and it does a fantastic job at that. My only quibble is the way the mixing attachments meets or doesn't meet the bottom of the bowl, which is an issue for smaller amounts of ingredients. For bread, you can just dump in all the ingredients, and while it may take a while to get all the flour mixed in from the bottoms and sides, it will eventually get it all, unless you have a really small batch of dough. For smaller things you need to whip, like cream or egg whites, the regular whisk attachment is not the most efficient at getting to all of the liquid. I think there is a different attachment for whipping small amounts, but I don't have it and don't know how well it works.

When used occasionally, this is a great kitchen tool.
I'd had an old, small mixer for the past 15 years, and while preparing a recipe a couple of months ago, I got tired of scraping the bottom of the bowl constantly while it mixed. So my husband bought me this one at my request for Mother's Day, and I handed my old one down to my college-student daughter and her roomies, who appear to live on homemade chocolate chip cookies and brownies. I had a few qualms because I was afraid I'd miss having the detachable hand-mixer feature from my old one, but since I almost never used it that way, I decided to make the move.I am not a heavy-duty user; I have a good bread machine and a good food processor, so I primarily use a mixer for dessert breads and puddings; I still mix a lot of things by hand. I did buy the C hook because on my first outing with the S hook, making concha rolls, the S hook didn't do well, and I had to alternate between the paddle and the S hook, and the rolls were tough. After purchasing the C hook the recipe worked properly. I'm not sure what the S dough hook is really good for? But the paddle with the little wiper blade on it is great. I'm considering ordering the new version that has blades on each side. I'm very happy with the machine and look forward to using it for many years to come.

I think this is the mixer Costco discontinued....
This is a hard to find product. It has a 5.5 quart capacity, and 550 watts of power. I returned my Costco kitchen aid, which had a narrow bowl, and not enough power to whip egg whites. Costco does not tell you how many watts their mixer is. They say it is 1 HP, which means nothing when comparing models of Kitchen aids. Get this one while you still can.

Much improved over the previous Kitchenaid
This is a much improved unit from the previous Kitchenaid stand mixer I eventually wore out. The old mixer was only 300 watts and could not handle 5 or 6 cups of flour for bread making. The new one is 600 watts. Looks like they were a special edition for QVC or some other retail outlet. Mine was new in the box with warranty card, etc. It's just a great mixer.
