Probably good for under 2.2 lbs (NOT 5 lbs as stated)
I had to return the item. The description on the Amazon web site says "It ...can support up to 5 lbs." I tried it on my comparatively light Pentax K-x with a small zoom lens (probably around 2.5 lbs total), and it couldn't hold it at all. Now I see on the package that it says: "Max Load: 2.2 LB"The ball head is all plastic, but it should do the job for a lighter camera. It does have a release plate which is nice. It's not a quick-release, but it's a few twists of a screw release. The little plate is easy to screw onto the tripod mount of the camera.If Bower made a stronger one of these, I'd buy it.
