Most informative book on kendo I have read
Brilliant book, would have helped if a DVD accompanied the book.

Good content - under average print quality
The content is good (nothing you couldn't learn from your sensei / instructor but that's expected).I ordered hard-copy to add to my home library but not very impressed with the print quality. One of the edges was smashed in, likely due to transport.Overall I am happy with the content but don't think the printed version is worth the price tag.

Best Book On Practically Learning to Seme
This is absolutely the best Kendo book I have found to give a practical application to Seme. Most Senseis have you just move in to pressure your opponent in one linear way. The Sensei who wrote this book gives you more then you can remember in ways to utilize your shinai in a way to enhance the Seme. The big caveat I have is that in my opinion you need to rely on the verbiage. Some of the diagrams are either confusing or perhaps switched with another one, i. e. number 2 could be number one not sure but I’m high enough ranked I shouldn’t be confused. Also, the pics on one page demoing a technique will have the motodachi closest to you. On the next page it’ll be reversed, the motodachi is the practitioner furthest from you. This seems trite but they’re pictures not videos so you have to sometimes look multiple times to see who’s the one initiating or executing the technique. To me, This made it needlessly cumbersome. However, some of his approaches are so eye opening and unique to me it’s still a 5 star effort. You just need to rely on the explanations more than the pics in my opinion.
