You are fine then. I don't have mine secured, it is on a carpeted floor and full of books and other items. No issues.

I don't have the 5 tier model, only the 4 tier. Mine is on a table and just fine. You could place small wooden wedges under the front edges so the shelf leans towards the wall and also keep the heaviest items close to the bottom/as far back as possible. Hope this helps you.

Does it come in white or gray?

I don't know but wouldn't get it. I got it and it was so hard to put together. Their were missing pieces and when I got it partially put together it broke. I returned it.
