Do you have to hold the power button down to run the whole time it does it stay powered on with just one click of the button?

It stays powered on. You do not have to hold the power button down to run. That's the main reason I bought the Shark instead of a Dyson. There's a trigger for the power boost but it's conveniently located and comfortable to use.

Can batteries be charged in 2 separate locations?

Not sure what you are asking but you can leave it on the vacuum and plug in the charger, or you can easily remove the battery and charge it anywhere with the supplied charger then just reattach it to the vacuum.

I cannot see lit up lights on the iq display. you don't know if you are on carpet, floor or what. isn't it suppose to light up?

We apologize that you are not seeing the lights on the display. There is a sticker on the UI that sometimes isn't noticeable that needs needs to be removed first. If the sticker has been removed and you are still having this issue we recommend reaching out to our Customer Care Team.

Battery is removable? How many battery included in package?

If you buy the vacuum with 120 min run time there are 2 batteries (costs about $50,00 more for this vacuum). If you buy the vacuum with 60 min run time there is one battery (about $50.00 less than the vacuum with 12O min run time). Hope this helps. I bought the Vertex with 120 min run time (2 batteries)
