Buster Keaton: The Complete Short Films 1917-1923 (Masters of Cinema) 4-Disc Blu-ray REISSUE

This is a breathtaking release that covers Keaton’s career from his screen debut with Roscoe Arbuckle in the Butcher Boy through to the end of his days making shorts before he set out to make some of his more famous ‘features’. High quality restoration and a fantastic accompanying booklet with much interesting information. This is with doubt a must buy.

The discs are great, with mostly beautiful transfers of the late and quite successful restorations. But it’s shameful of Eureka to reissue it with no documentation whatsoever, not even a simple listing of the contents of each disc. If reprinting the substantial book of the original edition wasn’t economically viable, at least a leaflet with basic information of each film should have been provided. Just lazy and shameful. Hence my two stars.

Splendido cofanetto in quattro dischi con tutti, ma proprio rutti, i cortometraggi in versione restaurata di/con Buster Keaton; dai primi interpretati con “Fatty” Arbuckle a quelli, alcuni straordinari, che precedono i capolavori a lungometraggio. Imperdibile.
