No. Besides, if you rigged something up the wobble, over time, would destroy the carrier

I don’t see why it wouldn’t. You slip the tongue inside the receiver mounted on your vehicle. As long as the hitch is properly installed below the bumper you should be good. The hole for the hitch pin should be accessible as well as it is on the side of the receiver.
