Astro Pneumatic Tool1442-10/32A Mandrel and Nose Piece

I'm so VERY thankful that when choosing a replacement for the crappy Harbor Threaded Rivet Nut tool, I did my homework and found that Astro Pneumatic Tools has what appears to be the widest selection of alternative thread sizes to complement the main ones which come with the tool. As an example, here in the US, 10-32 is a VERY popular size, especially in the electrical and HVAC trades, but is apparently not so in other trades and other parts of the world, hence the otherwise VERY GOOD selection which come with the tool is adequate, but I needed a couple of other sizes. Be careful when choosing any other tool because while some "say" you can get replacement or alternative size mandrills, good luck trying to actually find and order them.My first Rivet Nut Thread tool was the store brand from Harbor, and I wish I'd started out with Astro to begin with and not wasted money on the one from Harbor. Theirs is awkward to use, 10-32, or even replacement mandrills for the sizes which come with the tool are simply NOT available that I could find. If that wasn't bad enough, replacement Rivet Thread Nuts are not available through Harbor once you use up the 10 or so of each size which come with their tool.I find the Astro Pneumatic Tool Company's Rivet Nut Thread Tool to have been the very best choice I could have made.

I know they can buikd the better. If you put any kind of wrong pressure, it will break! Use caution, we do and sometimes they break. No room for error.

This is my second replacement of the 10-32 bit. It really can pull out easily (more so than the 10-24 bit that I have used without ruining on numerous rivet nuts. This one just doesn't seem to have a strong enough alloy for that particular job. Take it real easy using this size, and when you think you should just tighten the rivet a little more, DON'T!!

It's hard to find a 10-32 mandrel, so grab it! I set aside some work while waiting, so this one is getting a lot of use. No problems! Suggestion - put a light grease on the mandrel threads before using on aluminum rivet nuts - it keeps the threads ready for the next pull.

I'm on my 4th mandrel now and I've probably installed less than 20 rivnuts. This mandrel strips very easy. I wish it were more sturdy.

I was much impressed with Astro's 13" rivet tool so I bought their rivnut tool. I was happy to see that they offered a #10-32 thread mandrel. The #10-32 thread is common on MGB sports cars. Rather than using pop-rivets or sheet metal screws as fasteners I am able to keep consistent thread size in the cars.

I installed successfully three inserts, then on fourth insert tool thread get stripped. I could non install fifth insert, so my simple job can't be finished. Shame...

very happy that they did ship fast but dont fit in my astro 1442 that was suppose to 🤦‍♂️ useless and waste of time very mad will ask for refound (left what they ship right what 1442 astro need. not same size)
