LINKUP - RJ45 Connector Crimp Tool for Large Diameter Wires | Ideal for Cat6A Modular Plugs | Hand Tool | Heavy Duty | Comfortable and Compatible [1-Pack]

We purchased the Crimping tool and the LINKUP - RJ45 Connectors ( Cat6A Ethernet Shielded Modular Plugs | for Large Diameter Wires (22AWG) Termination ) at the same time on Amazon. Note, we also bought from Lowes; a testing tool, wire scissors and cable jacket stripper. We have successfully built 5 cables so far. During the process we had a few defective crimps ranging from open to short issues. We also lost 4 or more when the crimp didn't work and the connector came off. Note there is a setting on the side of crimper which we changed but it was inconsistent, ie sometimes it helped and other times it caused a short. We have an email into Linkup support to see if they have any ideas.090920Linkup emailed me w/ a picture stating: ' Keep pushing until all wires are all the way to the end'Not real helpful, since we have been pushing wires to the end of the connector.Note, one of the five cables worked for 24 hours and just quit.101020The tool works great once you figure out 1) strip the wire to 2 cm vs recommended 1.5 cm particularly if you have outdoor cat6 and 2) be very patient is getting all wires straight and lined up.

The crimping tool does a messy job and misses one pin every time, and doesn't offer cutting or stripping like other higher-quality tools for a similar price. This is while using the connectors and boots listed on this same page. I thought maybe I was making an error, and waited too long to return this, which is my fault, but hopefully I can save someone else the frustration of trying to use this mess of a product.

After searching for a long time, I finally found and settled on this product and the plugs that are sold with it here on Amazon (see separate review of the plugs). This crimper is well made, heavy duty, and crimps precisely and very easily. Price is a bit hefty, but so is the tool, but I don't think it will ever need a replacement.

Poor quality control. This crimper is off just enough that the last 2 connectors are not pushed in all the way. I had multiple failed connections, bought a new crimper and they worked right away. Disappointed in the quality control on such an expensive item.

From recent customer- Perfect tool for awg 23 cat6 solid copper cables. Once I used their shielded rj45 jacks and got the wires in through the leader, crimping was very simple. Also, excellent customer service. Thanks.
