ARSRose Pruner, 2-Foot

Top-Notch
As far as tools go, this is a very good one. In the box you will find a complete parts list for anything that wears out. Don't know how expensive the parts are, but there is no doubt that the maker had the user in mind. That is also very apparent upon use of the tool, however if you haven't used this type of tool before, I recommend holding off on any critism until you get used to using it. For example, upon first use I found the grabbers in the way a little, as they jutt forward ever so slightly of the blade. It didn't take long to realize that the trade-off was enormously in favor of the overall user experience. In other words, the tiny bit that the grabber is in the way is far exceeded by it's usefulness. A lot of thought went into making this tool. Anyway leave it to the Japanese to make anything this sharp, and when it gets dull just order another blade.Update: I have used this tool now for just over 3 months. I have much to trim in my garden because it is all trellised. This tool has become indispensable. The swiveling blades come in handy very often. Be forewarned though, it is easy to abuse, not because it's weak but because it's strong. You will likely be temped to cut branches that are larger than it is designed for. If you can keep from doing that, like I can't, this tool will undoubtedly last a very long time. Even with extensive, and sometimes brutal use, mine is still going strong, and remains sharp. The only thing that would make this tool better, in my view, would be a few more inches of length.

Rose Pruner works well
The pruner works much better than I expected. It actually does clip and hold the rose until you are ready to discard it. It reaches places that are hard to get with a regular hand-held pruner. We have also use it to deadhead evening primrose without having to bend over.

Great length
I have 7 or more ARS tools, it is my favorite brand. The rose pruner is the ideal length but the part that is supposed to grab the stems actually gets in the way and makes it difficult to get the blades where I want them. I wish that I could take that part off.

Nice tool!
I bought these for my wife to use for pruning mostly perennial flowers like iris and cone flowers. Much easier on your back using these. They also seem tough enough to use on lilacs and other woody plants as long as you don't try to cut something larger than the capacity (distance between the cutting edge and the stem holder). The pruners hold on to the cut-off piece so you can drop it in a cart or whatever. Makes the job much easier. My only problem with them was that the plastic holder for the cutting end was cracked and ineffective when received; it would have been nice to have it to protect the extremely sharp blade when not in use. Yes, be careful!

I am disappointed in the pruner
I am disappointed in the pruner. It doesn't hold thin branches. Large rose bushes have a lot of thin branches. It works okay on thicker branches. I also find that I have to use two hands to make cuts, not the best for someone with arthritis. Guess I'll have to keep looking for a tool that works as well as the Fiskers 24" pruner which has been discontinued. It's too expensive for such mediocre performance.

Works great!!
Very happy with this rose pruner. Long handle keeps hands and arms away from the rosebush thorns, but you still have control over what you're trying to prune. Best one we've had.

Well made as are most ARS products. Works well on bushes so you don't have to reach in with your arms/hands. The "cut and grab" is nice but time consuming if you have a lot of rose bushes to prune like we do (50+). Better than wearing gauntlet gloves in the hot weather.

Excellent Multi-purpose tool
Great quality in all components. A little pricey to ship to Canada; Wish there were local ARS sellers.Stem grabbing-mechanism on the cutting head doubles as trash-tweezers!
