8th Edition provides great info for planning an RV trip to Alaska
This copy is the 8th edition published in January 2020 and indicates within that the info was updated the summer of 2019. Caution: Amazon doesn't specify the revision number in the description so I wouldn't buy a new or used copy from another source listed unless you can verify you are getting the 8th edition as the Church's have been doing these for many years and the previous 7th edition came out in January 2017. Somewhat unfortunately Amazon lists all comments from all editions of the book together, so when you see a 2019 comment that the book is out of date it is referring to a 7th edition or earlier copy that was last updated in 2016 or earlier. So keep that in perspective.Overall these books have been very helpful to my 2 previous RV trips to Alaska and I have always said you need 2 books in particular for such a trip, this book and the Milepost.

Great for planning!
I went to Alaska in 2019 and used the previous version to plan my trip. It worked so well that I bought the updated version for our 2022 trip. This book’s layout makes sense to me. It has a section on how to prepare for the trip. Each road section has an overall description with things to see and do, then a map with towns and campgrounds, then a description of each campground, the mile marker where it’s located, gps coordinates, and an opinion of the facilities. I highly recommend this book!

Most used travel guide for our Alaskan camping trip
Since we camped for a month staying 1-4 nights at each campsite, we used this book a lot to find out where to go next. The maps are particularly useful for showing an overview the options in a general area. We found the descriptions were generally accurate. The Milepost doesn't have all the options if the commercial sites don't advertise, and the campground info gets lost among all the other detail. I started planning with an older edition and then got the newest shortly before we left.

Good Info, but Writing Needs Work
This book contains exactly the type of info we need for our upcoming camping trip to Alaska. The extensive info on the individual campgrounds is especially helpful. There’s just one problem: As the self-appointed Chief of the Grammar Police Dept., I simply can’t ignore all the comma splicing. These otherwise very knowledgeable campers don’t know when to end one sentence and begin another. It’s quite distracting.

Everything you need to plan a great Alaskan camping trip!
We just completed a 7 day RV trip through Alaska. This was our first RV experience. I found this book invaluable. We stayed at several different campgrounds some with full hook-ups and some with none. It is a very comprehensive guide that covers not only Alaska but the Yukon along the Alcan highway as well. It provides information on each camp site, broken down by area, such as pricing, type of hook-ups, type of sites RV or tent, and local sites/activities.

Let's Go Camping
I'll be driving to Alaska in June, and camping along the way. I have several books on driving to Alaska, but this one has been most interesting, especially since I'll be tent camping. I recommend it.

Good But RV Focused
This book was really great for camping in Alaska. It is more RV focused then tent focused, but still a very handy book. I did find the price for the campsite symbols to be annoying. They use a series of $ which you have to refer to the front of the book every time to see how much. They could just say something like $30-35 instead of $$$$$$ to refer to that amount.

Actually more useful than Milepost
The Milepost is an essential companion for an Alaska trip, but the Alaskan Camping book is equally essential. It's not just a list of campgrounds, but lists each of the roads, offers alternative routes, describes wildlife you might look out for, just about everything you need. In fact, although this might sound sacrilegious, I think this book is even more useful than Milepost.
