Failed after 1 year of use. Dissection revealed the internal nickle chromium heating coil burned inside the bend. There appears to be a void in the insulation.

Easy to change and a perfect replacement.

On first inspection, I noticed some melted plastic around the head of the element on one terminal side. I was desperate so thought I would give it a try hoping it was only a cosmetic issue. It worked well for about a week but again no hot water. Readings from my multimeter suggest there is a break in conductivity. Given my earlier observations, I suspect I was sold a factory second. I will have to drain the system and replace it again. Unfortunately I cannot find a replacement locally so will have to endure the long wait again.

The heater was relatively easy to install and works well. I have had it for a month and hope it continues to function for several years.
