Is the leather chair better or mesh?

I own both and prefer the leather seat for may day-to-day office seating. The mesh can wear out over 10 years of use and the leather has a foam core for extra comfort.

is the headrest removable?

Technically, yes. But you would be missing a piece that caps the back support frame. What is the maximum weight it supports?

250lbs, I am a solid 240lbs and having used this chair daily for almost a year I can say I would be unconcerned using it if I gained 60lbs
