It works
This insulation board works as expected. It can be easily cut with a utility knife but corners and edges can also be easily damaged with normal handling. I tested it on top of a burning stove for 15 minutes and the other side was still cool.

Well Packaged
It will be a couple of weeks before I can try out it's insulating properties.Despite complaints by others about damages in shipping, I found the manufacture's packaging for the 1"X18"X24" size to be very well done, giving it good chances for survival even with Amazon's sometimes haphazard outer shipping boxes. It took some work to unpack it, but that's OK because the item is somewhat fragile.

No warranty for defective item, Simond posts their warranty nowhere.
This item arrived a little over a month ago and when I finally unpackaged it, it was splitting along the top. Amazon says past return time so contact Simond store for warranty but all they said was sorry, past warranty time w/o showing the warranty anywhere on their or Amazon site.

Good quality
The old heat shield wore out in the top of the wood stove and we have replaced it several times in the past. The thickness and quality is perfect for the stove and is working well. It arrived earlier than expected, too.

Cracking so far not a problem.
I've had a problem with thinner board breaking in my QuadraFire wood stove. This thicker board seems to be the answer. Time will tell but so far so good.
