Amazing!
This is an excellent compilation of Ethel's work. Very good resurrection of the old vinyl -- nice! If you like Ethel Smith and need a decent representation of her work this set is for you!Of course there's Tico Tico which is an amazing performance in it's own right. However, the entire two-CD set is pretty impressive. There were only a few selections that I could have done without and a few others that I would have liked to have had included. All-in-all, and excellent collection.Recommended!

Garfield Goose
Anyone who grew up in the Chicago area knows about Monkey on a String, the theme song to beloved children's tv show, Garfield Goose. I was impressed with the whole album.

A FITTING TRIBUTE TO A REAL LADY
This anthology from the Decca vaults shows the many sides of a true Popular organ VIRTUOSO. Her Latin American pieces are well represented as well as Standards, Blues, Hits, Swing and Novelty. Her impeccable technique served her great expressive and even comic skills. I saw her live and she was a ball of fire as these selections show. She was THE FIRST LADY OF THE HAMMOND ORGAN!!! Don't miss this trip down a wonderful Memory Lane!

The Queen of the Hammond
A great collection of the queen of the Hammond. The style is flamboyant and complex.

Lovely and Hip
Lovely. Ms Smith bridges the genres of old folks' organ and hipsters' lounge music. If you're looking for something new to enjoy, this might be it.

Great service and very welcome.
I bought this for a good friend as he had told me he could not find it anywhere. (He has no access to broadband.) He thought it wonderful and was very grateful.

Ethel Smith - what a star.
The First Lady of the Hammond Organ: Plays "Tico Tico" & Other Great Recordings Ah! Ethel Smith. As a young lad I listened to Tico Tico over and over again. It was an old 78, and Lero Lero was on the other side. She was (and still is) the undisputed champion of the Hammond organ. As soon as I saw the CD I had to have the thing, and have it I did. My wife (a total peasant neanderthal) can't see what I find so captivating. The CD is beautifully put together, and it's not difficult to see that Ethel's talent is legendary. Buy it. Play it. Love it. Dip it in gold and give it to your grandchildren. The First Lady of the Hammond Organ: Plays "Tico Tico" & Other Great Recordings

Blast from the past!
Very disappointing. Thin reedy cheap sounding track nothing like I remember Ethel Smith . Always a fan of this superb lady along with Carmen Miranda, they often appeared together in the 50s. One for the charity shop I am afraid
