Works as it should and is not overly difficult to install, although I would say it took me like 30 min to install. This is very necessary if you want to use all the parking features with the dashcam, unless your cigarette lighter socket remains hot even with the car off. I would recommend because it also frees up a slot for a charger.

Super easy to install. Granted I dug up a YouTube video for my specific vehicle but the process was simple. After installing the fuse taps (make sure they are the correct orientation), the camera fired right up. The harness allows it to record even when the car is off which was something I really wanted available. After reaching a certain battery discharge level, the camera shuts off rather than continue to drain. Running the wiring was the most difficult part. I'd recommend picking up a trim removal kit. They're cheap but will save your fingers and potential damage when prying off plastic tabs. Various fuse taps are included so there should be no issues with different vehicle makes and models.

The Viofo Hardwire Kit is an excellent addition for enabling parking mode on your dashcam. Installation is straightforward and easy, especially with a trim removal tool to access fuse panels. The kit includes multiple fuse taps for compatibility with a variety of vehicles, and the harness allows the camera to record even when the car is off, with an automatic shutoff to prevent battery drain. Once set up, the parking mode engages immediately, and the unit works flawlessly for both front and rear cameras. I would recommend changing some settings in the VioFo app as well to get the best performance. The kit’s build quality feels durable, and Viofo provides excellent customer support if any issues arise. I bought this as an addition to a new car so i can have peace of mind when my car is parked.

I used this hard wire kit (with some add a taps) in my 2001 Miata. I wanted to have the ability to use the parking features. It was not difficult to tuck the wire along the liner above the windshield and down the drivers side A pillar. It makes the install a lot cleaner. I took one star off because for some reason they installed the magnet choke, round plastic bit, pretty close to the USB-C plug. This will make it difficult to tuck pretty much anywhere. I was lucky to have room in the trim above the windshield but getting that little blister tucked involved removing a number of screws first. Even so it works well and the quality seems good. It's been working well for me and looks nice and clean. Update, I've installed another webcam in my son's Subaru BRZ. This kit was very easy to set things up. And it works very well. I installed the voltage switch behind an easy access panel in case we need to change it. But there was plenty of wire and the install was straightforward. I like how they supplied the ad a fuse which worked well.

**This is an update to my review. Viofo sent me a message after this review posted and offered to send me a replacement wire harness. I agreed and had the harness in hand within 2 days. I removed the defective harness and installed the new one and everything worked perfectly. I still use Viofo exclusively because I think their cameras are quite good. This is the first time I had to use Viofo support for a defective item; and Viofo came through. Viofo really does make great cameras that are very reliable and at a good price point. It was nice to see that Viofo does back up their products when you need it.** I bought this as part of a package deal with a camera for a Christmas gift last year. I finally got around to installing the camera this weekend. I had an awful time getting ACC power to work; but after an hour or so messing around; it miraculously started working. I was never able to get battery (parking mode power) to work. So, after spending hours getting this to work; it stopped working after I buttoned everything up. This isn't my first time wiring a car with a Viofo Camera and hardwire kit. I have done three of my own cars and two of my children's cars. This is clearly a defective hardwire kit. I was surprised to get defective hardware from Viofo; but it happened. I'm sort of disgusted because now I have to buy another and wait. Viofo needs to improve their quality control with their supplier.

Wanted to hardwire for 2024 Subaru Crosstrek and hid all wires from driver and passengers. The dash cam did not come with the needed wiring for this, just a wire to plug into 12v outlet. Did have trouble with testing and targeting right car fuses to use. At first, I had both wires tapped to unused fuses that both operated all the time (ACC), so unit would never go into parking mode. So I became increasingly concerned about battery drain. Finally retested fuses with my multimeter and moved ACC fuse tap to another fuse and voila, it began working exactly as intended. Note: Email support from Viofo was unclear on this scenario and recommended various troubleshooting tips in the wrong direction. Had a little trouble crimping the wires to the leads. Bought a tool from Lowe’s for this, but would have been nice to know on the front end. I also installed the rear camera upside down when attaching it to the glass, but the dash cam apparently understood and self-adjusted for this. I was reluctant to use parking mode at first due to concerns that the dash cam might drain the battery. But two things worked out to offset. First, the wiring to the fuse box included a little rectangular power supply regulator that allows you to adjust at what battery level the unit will self-deactivate. I set this to the highest setting. Second, with the wiring fixed, parking mode activated automatically and I was able to configure the dash cam to shut down after 1-2 hours of the engine being shut off. I haven’t tested the event-based recording function so far. I bought the dash cam mainly for a new teen driver and insurance reasons.
