Identifying larger numbers is a skill 2nd - 5th graders need to know. I use this as a simple way for my kids to learn. In the beginning of the year, I set it up so the kids can see numbers up to 999. The kids walk in and unpack, then come whisper the mystery number to me. As the year progresses, I make the numbers harder - up to 9999, then up to 99,999. My 3rd grade teachers use this as well for the larger numbers. It's a quick check each morning that takes little to no time out of my day where I can check their number sense.

Our first unit starts with place value and I wanted a manipulative, hands-on that the students could do the place value changes while teaching. I can also use it as a math center after whole class learning.

This place value chart is sturdy and well made. I wish it was larger but I know that’s on me because I didn’t pay enough attention to the dimensions mentioned in the product description.

This is great during my small group instruction. It's perfect for stiffens to use when working independently.
