Kinda funny. I got this and immediately forgot about it because I followed up with one of those artisan knife sharpening tools. The kind where you have different grain levels and finish off with a leather strap. The only thing is, those are really easy to get wrong. Even more, it requires a bit of setup time and patience as you manually stroke the knife edge with careful precision. It requires a lot of focus! A couple weeks ago, I found this thing, and found a working power adapter for it (it'd been long enough that I lost the original one), and gave it a try. Setup was quick. Knives were extremely sharp. And it was so easy, a child could do it (though I wouldn't recommend that). In my personal experience, the artisan stuff is cool if you want to romanticize and "show off" your knife sharpening routine. But if you want something that just does the job, and does it very well, this is a great tool! And for the price, absolutely worth it. Stop tolerating dull knives. This will make your knives feel brand new again. Seriously. Go from this sharpener to cutting a tomato and you might actually scream from the satisfaction.

I have avoided electric sharpeners for years, relying on a 4 stage hand sharpener or my old wooden platform sharpener with angled steel bars. They both work but they are time consuming and, as my arthritis progresses, more tiring and difficult. This device offered me an inexpensive way to check out electric sharpeners. So far it has been a great sharpener for home use. It is small and quiet and much faster and easier than a manual sharpener. I have used it for several types of knives (from French chef to paring size and a serrated bread knife) and it sharpened them all well. The directions are clear and easy to follow. After on a minute or two it became very easy to hold a knife at the proper angle. The 2-stage system sharpens and polishes the blade and the magnetic dust collector at the bottom does a good job of capturing metal shavings. It is easy to empty. There is a scissor sharpener on one side, but I haven't used it yet.

Picked this up for the kitchen and overall I’m happy with it. It’s effective, especially on medium and large knives, and the scissors slot actually works — not just a gimmick. The compact size is a real plus; it tucks away easily and doesn’t hog counter space. Easy to use straight out of the box, and the price is right for what you get. That said, the sharpening performance can be a little inconsistent depending on the knife, and I’m not totally sure how it’s going to hold up long-term. So far so good, but ask me again in a year. Pros: • Works well on medium to large knives • Scissors slot is a nice bonus and actually sharpens • Compact — fits in a drawer or on the counter without taking over • Simple to use, no learning curve • Good value for the money Cons: • Sharpening results can be hit or miss • Durability is a question mark — too early to say Tips: • Watch the product video before the first use, the angle and pull direction matter more than you’d think • Light pressure, steady pulls — let the machine do the work • Empty the magnetic dust tray every few uses • Skip it for your fancy or single-bevel knives, save it for the everyday workhorses Four stars for now. Would recommend if you want a no-fuss home sharpener and aren’t expecting whetstone-level results.

I have been using this knife sharpener a few months. Before I purchased this, our knives were so dull. The hand held sharpeners I was using before just wasn’t doing the job. This sharpener works great and is very affordable. This is so easy to use. It really is a great product and even sharpens your scissors. As someone who sews, I need something that can do a great job of sharpening my scissors for cutting fabric.

It’s a very good machine does exactly what is supposed to do and yes it’s not fast but it does get the job done and does it very well

While it did the job on most of our knives, It took more effort than other electric knife sharpeners.

Sorry if this is too much reading. I gave this sharpener five stars only because it worked on knives with an edge that is complete from tip to handle, without and unsharpened section before the handle. I went online and found that this unsharpened section is referred to as a ‘ricasso’. I didnt know that. This electric sharpener, like all other electric sharpeners I’ve used, does not allow me to fully sharpen such knives all the way to the ‘ricasso’ because the slots formed in the housing are too small to allow the ‘ricasso’ past them. This leaves some of the blade unsharpened. I’ve never been a fan of these electric sharpeners; they’re all basically the same, but silly me for thinking this sharpener would be any different. Not the sharpener’s fault; it works as advertised. I won’t return it because it does sharpen knives but I will probably use a dremel to open the slot on the handle side of the housing, which will accommodate the ‘ricasso’. I know this will affect the angle of the grind but I have a sharp eye (apologize for the pun) and am confident that I can maintain a proper slant with the aid of the unmodified slot on the tip side of the housing.

I am absolutely in love with this sharpener. It sharpens really well and quickly! You just have to get the hang of it, that's all! Very happy with the purchase!

Un excellent aiguiseur à couteaux. J'avais un "fusil à aiguiser" (le long bâton utilisé par les grand chefs) mais je n'arrivais pas à bien les aiguiser. J'avais plutôt tendance à les abimer. Depuis que je me suis procurée ce nouvel appareil, je peux enfin couper mes aliments à la perfection. J'adore la double fonction : celle d'aiguiser et de polir le couteau pour enlever toutes les aspérités. L'appareil n'est pas trop lourd et il aiguise aussi bien les petits et les grands couteaux que les ciseaux (ce qui est un plus) ! Je suis très contente de mon achat. Je le recommande fortement.

This sharpener does an extraordinary job on my chef's knives, and a pair of scissors that I tried. It's fast too!
