Does this boots have metal? I need ones with no metal

I often wear an insert and a thin lift in right shoe; is there space for an insert or should I order up a half size?

Do these boots have a smooth leather finish or suede finish?

Do these boots break in eventually? 8’s are pretty snug but the 8.5 are too loose.
