Nulaxy Bluetooth FM Transmitter for Car, Wireless Car Bluetooth V5.0 Adapter with Big Color Screen, Support QC3.0 Fast Charging, Hands-Free Call, MP3 Music Player BASS&TRE Booster, TF Card AUX-KM28

Lots of fancy pics in the listing and lots of positive reviews, but no useful details on the specifics of how this unit actually works so here you go- -This unit will play MP3s and other music formats from a USB port or microSD card slot on the unit -Stream music/sound via Bluetooth from apps on your phone -interface with phone for making and recieving calls -charge devices via two USB ports at the cigarette lighter plug First and foremost, this unit has a 3.5mm/ 1/8" plug on the bottom of it. This is a variable line-level OUTPUT to feed audio signal from this device to the AUX input on your factory system. It is NOT an "AUX IN" that adapts the audio from an external device to broadcast via FM to your factory radio. Secondly, this unit has "bass" and "treble" adjustments for some reason; do not use these- just leave them at zero. I believe that the distortion in sound noted by other commentors may be partly caused by maxing these out. Thirdly, the "volume" control on this unit (1-31) is NOT meant to be used as a volume control. This is a gain/level matching adjustment same as you would find on an external car audio amplifier. The proper way to set this is to tune your radio to a regular station or play a tape/CD, then switch back and forth between that source and this bluetooth unit and adjust the gain on this unit up or down to get the volume as close as possible to the native source. Again, the distortion in sound that other people are complaining of is likely due to maxing the "volume" on this unit at 31 and overdriving the input of the factory system. This gain level defaults to "25" every time you powercycle the unit. I have matched it to my factory radio's AUX in and it sounds best between about 19-23 so I have to turn the gain on this unit down a couple notches every morning when I first power it up. This gain number is always displayed at the top edge of the screen so you can see it at all times. Once this gain level is set you use your volume and EQ settings on your factory radio as normal. It's also worth noting that when connected to your phone via bluetooth changing the volume via the buttons on your phone will also chage the level on this unit, and the number on the display will change accordingly. I have not used the FM transmitter function but as far as I can tell it transmits on the selected frequency at all times and I have not found any settings in the unit to disable it. I use this unit in my work vehicle primarily to play MP3s off of a micro SD card. I plug it in first thing in the morning and it is in use for 8+ hours, 6 days a week. It has performed great for the last several weeks. I also occasionally stream music from Spotify via my phone and the bluetooth connection. Again it works great, sounds great all day long. I don't chat on the phone a whole lot in the car but when I recieve a call it shows the name/phone number on the screen and declares the number through the audio system so I know who is calling without having to look down at the screen. I can then press the large knob to answer the call. This unit is controlled primarily with the large knob right of the screen. It has positive detents when turned and a solid feeling "click" when you press it. You press and release to answer calls, or pause music. You press and HOLD to enter the menu where you can control more advanced functions. When in the microSD card mode, the first option on the menu is "local folder" which is where you can access the folder structure of the microSD card or USB thumbdrive and navigate through your music same as you would on any cheapO portable MP3 player/ipod. The only critisizm I have of the unit would be that when you spin the wheel it sometimes goes in the opposite direction "up" instead of "down" so you have to keep an eye on the screen to make sure it's doing what you're commanding it to do. Added bonus- I ordered the "yellow" color unit and it actually matches perfectly with the light brown-tan colored interior of my car. Not sure where they got YELLOW from but you can kind of see in the photos that it is clearly not even close to yellow in color

I must say for the price I was skeptical but I went for it and I am not disappointed. It is cheaply priced with a very high quality build. The screen looks amazing and tells you phone battery, current song playing and works great with Siri. It’s very easy to connect to your phone. Fits nicely in a car vent and is secure and won’t flop around like other Bluetooth transmitters that connect to your vent. It also charges your phone very fast. It’s a great product I would give 6 stars to if possible.

I have a van from an era where there was no real reason to hook up your phone to your car (also known as not that long ago). That mean no native bluetooth connectivity, no Aux input (or more correctly any port use to send audio to the radio), only an cd player, tape slot, and a good old fm receiver. When I finally reached the point where I could not longer physically stand the local radio stations, I was in trouble. I needed to find a way to listen to something better, something I could access on my phone. I am not made of money and I was not looking to spend more than $30.00. I tried those tape adapters, but they did not really work consistently, especially since my sister thought the best way to make them work was to pull on the audio jack, which over time fully broke them. Then one day while trying to buy yet another tape adapter I saw something that gave me hope. I saw a bluetooth to fm transmitter. Quickly I changed the search terms and found this product. My expectations were not all that high given that at least five other legitimate listing of this product sold by other companies (Clearly this was a generic electronic sold to companies who then stick their own branding on it, which is not uncommon). My first month or so with it was mediocre, and the fact I can even say that is an amazing thing. I had an issue with the cigarette lighter (That is what car power ports are called because of their original use) this product was plugged into. The port was very loose, to the extent that plugging in a USB to charge my phone would power off the transmitter. Somehow though with this product getting the most unstable power provided to it, it was still able to transmit with a barely acceptable amount of static (unless the windshield wipers were on). Eventually I fixed the cigarette lighter and the world changed. The static was mostly gone (it is still barely audible in the background of the music and of course in the silence), and I could charge my famously low battery life phone with its preferred amperage 2.1 amps (and 5 volts but anything powered via a USB port will be 5 volts), which means that I could top off my phone pretty effectively on even short drives. The fact that it attempts to auto connect to my phones bluetooth when it is powered on is amazing, because I don't want to spend too much setting it up before I drive. Actually, the only setup I have to do is play my music on my phone (given that my bluetooth is on, and the radio station has not been changed). The initial setup was not all that difficult either. All I had to do, was plug it in, pair it with my phone (It is always set to pair mode when no device is connected, and the name is displayed as T10), set the fm frequency (or channel or station whatever word you prefer) I wanted it to broadcast on and change my radio to the frequency. For better sound quality it is recommended to set the frequency to one not already being broadcasted on. In my area 100.1 (mHz) was just static so I chose that. It should be pointed out that if some person rolled up to me at a stoplight and was enjoying listening to the static (Not judging) on 100.1, they would hear hear what ever I was listening to. Of course unless by chance the person in the next lane was listening to the static on the exact same frequency I was broadcasting (There are a lot of open frequencies in a given area so this is not a high chance), this will never be a problem for you. If you are a person who uses this to make calls, someone could (either by a small chance or by a lot of planning) listen to what the other person was saying (They could not hear your voice as it is not transmitted on the fm side). You could solve that by going on your phone and setting the device to only receive media audio and not call audio (This works on android, but I am not sure if those who use iPhone have that setting, but maybe that is a good reason to switch :) ). One problem I can see (but have not had the chance to encounter... yet...) is while travailing you might end up in an area where there is a signal being broadcasted on your chosen frequency. Depending on where your cigarette lighter is this could be more or less of a problem (I am on the more sadly because I need to duck down to read the display on the device). To address some questions I saw about this product: PLEASE READ BEFORE ASKING A QUESTION ~There is no power button. If your cars is one that continues to power the cigarette lighters when the car is off and keys out of the ignition, remember to unplug it. I should note that very few people will have to worry about this. ~You cannot change the bluetooth display name without firmware modifications. ~It does not have a caller ID feature, or a now playing feature. The LCD Display listes the name of the connected device and other status indicators. On start up it does diplay your battery voltage (The number should be between 12 and 15. If it lower than 12 your car battery might be dead (: ) ~If your device's paired and unpaired voice messages change languages on you, press the center circle button for 5 seconds or so. ~This device will work as long as you have: 1. An FM radio in your car. 2. Your phone has bluetooth connectivity, or a headphone jack or you have a micro sd card with your music on it. 3. A Cigarette lighter port in your car (THE STANDARD CAR POWER PORT) 4. Your car battery is not dead (: 5. There is power going to the device ~The neck is flexible to an extent ~You need to press the skip track button to switch between bluetooth and sd. ~The FM Station can be changed (in a pretty standard fm range) ~Cannot transmit on AM frequencies ~You can use hands free calling if you want. ~All setting are remembered when it is powered off. ~Q: Does this work with *Name of phone* A:Bluetooth is Bluetooth is Bluetooth. If your phone has Bluetooth it will work. ~The USB port is for power only. You can charge your phone (or other usb device) thats it. ~It does have "Fast charging" which as of the current time is any device which outputs 2 amp power. ~You can only pair with one phone at a time. to connect a different phone you must disconnect the first. ~To use voice commands you have to start what ever voice command prompt on your phone. ~It can transmit any audio app on your phone, controls will vary, but works with most major audio apps. ~Q: Can I listen to *audio source* while waiting on a call A: A call will pause you music until you end or deny a call. Unless your car radio can play to sources at once (it can't) you will not be able to play a cd, or sirius xm (unless its trough your phone) or a tape or a different fm station and wait for a call.

If you are a roadwarrior with an older vehicle and like to stream music, make hands-free calls through your vehicle sound system (where the other person on the call can actually hear you), plus have several handy features in an attractive package, then this new Nulaxy unit should be on your short list of vehicle Bluetooth/FM car transmitters. I own three older German cars (two '99s and an '04), none of which support bluetooth connections to their respective radios. Over the last 10 years, I've purchased maybe a dozen or so Bluetooth-to-FM transmitters including Nulaxy's original BT/FM transmitter, and while they all worked fairly well as far as being able to pair my iPhones to the car radios to play music, they all fell completely flat when it came to the fidelity of the built-in microphone when making hands-free calls while driving. Most of the time I was forced to switch my phone to speakerphone because the other person on the line could barely hear me even though I was practically yelling into the mic on the BT/FM transmitter. Unacceptable, but no other options. Fortunately, now there are! Recently I set out to find a BT/FM transmitter with either a plug-in external mic or a decent built-in mic and voila, this new Nulaxy model popped up on Amazon along with several other brands, all featuring rather robust looking microphone inputs instead of the tiny pinhole mics of the older models. I chose this Nulaxy unit as I am familiar with the brand and because it offers several features that were not available with the first gen or other newer models. PROS: - The head unit of this model can be mounted on the AC vent (or the dash with some creative use of velcro) making it far easier to see and use while driving. All of the older models had to be plugged down low in the car's cigarette lighter making it virtuallly impossible to adjust while driving (specifially when changing FM bands if the band being used is stepped on by a radio station on or next to the FM frequency being transmitted to. If you have ever owned a BT/FM car transmitter and travel a lot, you know exactly what I'm talking about). - Very nice, sharp 3" color display showing all necessary information - Info on screen is very legible - Multi-colored graphic equalizer display that turns out to be actually useful when dialing in just the right mix of bass and treble. - Lighter plug has two USB ports including a fast charger port, which is able to get my iPhone 15 from 20% to 80% charge in 15-20 mins of driving. Nice! - Bass boost! At full boost, it sounded almost like there's a subwoofer in the car. (I had to turn it down to about 50% to avoid blowing out the old OEM speakers) - Treble boost. Not as "Wowsy" as the bass boost, but it does let you change the EQ depending on what music is playing. Will probably become a "Can't live without" feature over time. - It looks like it belongs on the dash. (Several passengers asked me if this was a MB/BMW accessory! LOL) - It has USB and Microdisk inputs if you like to play pre-mixed MP3s. Haven't used them and likely never will, but I imagine they work fine. - Excellent price point. You get a lot of features for a fairly low price. CONS: - Based on past experience with previous gen units, I am unsure of how long it will take for the screen to die or the control buttons to stop working. Typically, the previous model screens and buttons would be dead or close to death within a year or so. Fortunately, Nulaxy has a 2-year replacement warranty for this model giving me some level of comfort. I'll update a year from now and let ya'll know how that goes. - This is nitpicking - but - the display screen backlight is set for optimal viewing at night, which as a default makes sense. However, it would be nice to include a day/night button to boost the display backlight, especially on sunny days. With sunglasses on, I literally cannot see anything on the display and without sunglasses on, it is subdued at best, but readable. (Nulaxy, get your engineers on that asap!)

Edit: 12/18/24: One other issue. The unit has a large plastic clip. meant to attach it to an air vent. Unfortunately, on my car the unit doesn't stay clipped on. I also tried clipping it to the edge of the car's ashtray. Same results. The unit can safely sit in the ashtray (as long as you're not a smoker), but the excellent display becomes unreadable, & the buttons more difficult to access. And where I live it is illegal to hold ANY electronic device while driving. STOOPID law, but I can't afford the ticket. Sad thing is this is still the best unit of it's kind I've had out of 6, even with all the design flaws. Original review: I'll get the negatives out of the way first: 1. Amazon page said same day delivery. I was 2 day; no big deal. 2. Difficult to mount to air vent 3. 1 piece that I THINK had something to do with Air vent mounting was not explained & made no sense. 4. Missing extra fuse, & it was a real pain to try to get it replaced. Hopefully I won't need the extra fuse; though this type of unit does tend to go bad. Good.: A. This is a good thing, but I had to write prepurchase to get the answer: It plays flac, but the page says MP3 only. 1. I was able to set up & use easily, only had to look up 3 items in the booklet (Power Off, Tone Control use, & Mounting; it could just sit in the ashtray, but it would be hard to read). 2. Good sound for this type of unit. 3. During PRESALE, excellent CS 4. No Static, & works much farther from the radio then the previous 5 units from mostly other companies (1 other was a Nulaxy; they suggested that I try this one) 5. More functional than any other USB FM Broadcaster I've tried. 6. Song & Folder titles are shown 7. Has a power switch Why I care: My cd player (2001) is a 6 disc changer, which by nature of the beast scratches discs. These days I also mostly play lossless files on USB Flash Drives. A $10 64 gb USB drive hold well over 100 cd quality albums. I've had 6. The first was a Nulaxy that wasn't as good as this & died in a few months, the 2nd was similar but a different brand; 3-5 all had various issues that I couldn't live with & were from no name companies. Again, so far this one is the best sounding & easiest to use. If it lasts at least a year, I'll be pleased. Other than POTENTIAL longevity issues, I would recommend this (though see the edit at the top).

I inherited a well-maintained 2011 CRV with low mileage. So, no bluetooth, USB ports...just a nice FM/AM radio and CD player, (not even a backup camera). I also have a 2015 vehicle that has bluetooth, etc. After getting tired of listening to the same CDs over-and-over, I purchased a screen device that had CarPlay, etc. That unit was intermittent and just okay, but cost just over $100. I decided that I really only needed something that could play music files. Bluetooth wasn't an important feature and I wasn't overly concerned about FM connection as I was planning on going directly thru the car's aux port. I chose this particular unit for a few main reasons: 1. Cost, $23 at the time, (if it suffered early failure, no big financial loss). I looked at the upgraded model and though less expensive, I didn't like the look of it as well as the bass/treble knobs. 2. Size, not large so as to not block a lot of the console 3. Audio output jack, Micro-SD slot, USB slot I have used the device for a week now and I absolutely love it. My 3 criteria were covered, and the unit itself has exceeded my expectations for several reasons listed below: 1. Extremely easy set-up. Plug-and-play at its best. I loaded up a 64gb micro-SD, creating files within files, (my way of creating playlists). The unit recognizes the layout and keeps the folders organized. 2. Bluetooth: Though I wasn't interested in the Bluetooth capabilities, I gave it a try. The unit immediately connected with my iPhone 12 Pro with the most recent iOS installed. Call function was quick and easy, (unlike my previous more expensive CarPlay device). Call went thru quickly and audio quality was clear. The caller could hear me but I had to speak loudly, which isn't much different than in my car with actual bluetooth. So pretty impressive for a tiny little mic. 3. Music sounds fantastic thru my car's factory speakers. I left my car's bass/treble settings as I had them with them both at 4, (5 being the highest). I then micro adjust within the Nulaxy unit depending on how the particular song is sounding. If you press the dial button, that will lead you to some system settings, and there are nicely programmed pre-set equalizer settings. You can also delete files if you want. Button responsiveness is excellent. Skipping forward and backwards is quick. I am using SanDisk 64GB MicroSDXC Ultra Uhs-1. 4. My car's sound system volume has a huge difference between levels. For example, if I had it at 5, dialing in 6 would be far too loud. I can leave the car's radio volume at one setting and adjust the volume more finely with the Nulaxy's volume control, which is a lot more refined. I also like how the Nulaxy returns to its main screen pretty quickly if you press the controls to access either the system settings or the bass/treble settings. Other units tend to lag a second too long. 5. You can manually power off the unit so it's not operating while you're driving, or you can just leave it on have it turn off with your car, (as long as your aux power turns off with your engine). What I really like about the Nulaxy is that it remembers where you left off. Not only will it remember if the unit was powered down manually or not and return to that setting when you start your car, but it will remember where you were in your song list, (and within the song), and what your equalizer settings were. It also managed to do this when I unplugged the device from the aux power. This is a very nice feature. I'm not a huge fan of vent attachments, as I have found them to be fairly unstable, block the vent, and then they wind up pulling the fins of the vent in some odd direction that blows the air where you don't want it, so I was a little disappointed that the vent attachment is molded onto the back of the device as I was planning on attaching it not on one of my car's vents. If you do want to attach it to a vent, the fact that it is molded onto the until will make it much sturdier and not have it bounce around. That being said, it is a fairly lightweight device. What I did wind up doing is squeezing the vent attachment into the small storage slot that the older CRV has. I then added a small piece of 3M double stick foam to the edge closest to the steering wheel and secured it to the plastic of the dash. I am so pleased with this setup. It is extremely secure and feels like it's cemented to the dash. It doesn't block any of my controls and the mic is closer to me. I even still have access to place small items in the little cubby space. All-in-all this is a fantastic little unit that costs less than you'd spend on a work lunch. It outperforms some of the more expensive units with CarPlay. Since it is so lightweight it does feel kind of "cheap," but it certainly does NOT perform like some cheap electronic. I would be concerned that the bass/treble buttons might fail at some point, but I think if you are gent with the buttons they should last. I will of course update if anything changes down the road. But even if this Nulaxy only last a year, it certainly would be more than worth it for how it performs and how little the cost.

This Bluetooth device came well packaged and arrived quickly. The mount, cord, and charging plug was included. The charging plug does have an adtional USB plug making it easy to plug my phone charger into. Setup was very easy and only took a few minutes. Linking my Bluetooth from my phone was fast and easy. The vent clip included worked very well and holds the unit from shaking going down the road. I'm only giving this unit 4 stars because of the sound quality. When I have music playing the sound is crystal clear. When I'm listing to podcasts the voices seem to have a bit of static no matter what station I tune it too. The hands free calling is also crystal clear and callers on the other end say the quality is good as well. Ease of use is 5 stars Set up is 5 stars Sound quality is 3 stars Quality of the product is 4 stars Packaging is 5 stars Call quality is 5 stars Looks of the installed product 4 stars I would recommend this device to a friend or family member. Much cheaper than buying and installing a new radio!

This FM transmitter works as expected, giving good and stable bluetooth connection to my phone and FM connection to radio. The quality of the microphone is satisfactory, the other party hears me well when I speak. The charger charges fast enough. What I wish was different was that the caller's name was shown on the screen. Bigger font would come handy. Not all buttons are illuminated, so sometimes it's harder to find some of them in the dark.
