The Rough Guide to Tanzania

Great help.
I bought this book for a roadtrip north to south through Tanzania. The book was helpful all the way in finding places to stay each night, and good stops for food. More detailed maps of some of the larger towns would have helped me navigate a bit better. Also, some of the prices listed were a bit low, but I suppose that's expected after a couple years.

Very useful book, but some information is a little out of date. I think they have a 2015 version coming out soon so that may clear things up. Note: Kariakoo Market is NOT for foreigners. Second, do NOT stay in Arusha if at all possible. Stay on the outskirts in the little B&Bs.

Indispensable
This book was indispensable for our trip last year. It was the first time I used a 'rough guides' book as opposed to Eyewitness guides and Lonely planet. The best thing is the context setting - provides cultural and historical context throughout the book, and some great tips. Good guidance on foodIt definitely doesn't have glossy pictures, and could do with some better maps, but overall very good - will be sticking to Rough guides from now on!

Rough Guide to Tanzania 3rd ed - Best One Yet
I have previously used to 2nd edition, however the 3rd ed has been significantly updated. Tanzania is a country that is growing and changing fast. I especially like the fact that the author has personally stayed at, or eaten in the places that are recommended. If you are intending to visit in the near future do not rely on the 2nd ed (2006), get yourself a copy this one.

Rough Guide to Tanzania
A replacement guidebook for my ancient East African Lonely Planet. Good information; chapters are the 11 different areas of the country, including Zanzibar; maps, facts, tips, as well as black and white and colour pictures - a useful book.

Essential
We always use rough guides when we go away, more in depth and informative than the books that just focus on the "tourist"Areas. This will always be close to hand during your travel. Only guidebook you will need

Rough Guide
Another up-to-standard book from the Rough Guide team - it contains all the necessary information for a pre-visit, but I shall be interested to re-read it and seen how accurate it was now that I have been there!

Useful. But very difficult to navigate through the pages and information. We ended up using a different guide that some other people travelling had with them
