I was recently diagnosed with pretty debilitating CMC osteoarthritis of the thumb joint
I was recently diagnosed with pretty debilitating CMC osteoarthritis of the thumb joint. I bought several braces and this one was the the most effective in eliminating pain and also for protecting me from further injury. It was especially useful for sleeping. After getting this one, I had an expensive custom brace made in OT, which I now use in bed. But I'd say that they are both are equally effective. It's too restrictive for tennis, but I find I can use it successfully for weight lifting and gardening. And wearing it at night seems to have allowed for reduction of inflammation because I'm now pretty pain-free during the day if I'm careful, even without the brace.

Better than most, good for the $, but there are much better options for twice the price.
I bought 5 different braces to try to stabilize my thumb from an injury. This one is okay.I tried the following ones and below are my preferences from most liked (first) to least liked:-1.Bort SellaDur Thumb Arthtitis & Thumb Sprain Treatment-2.Comfort Cool CMC Restriction Splint-3.Med Spec Tee Pee Thumb Protector-4.Neo G Medical VSC thumb brace-5.Thumb Spica - Stabilizer Brace - by BioSkinThe Bort is by far the most stabilizing and comfortable. Its got one elastic/Velcro strap so its easy to get on and off, plus the best part is the hand sock/glove thing that wicks moisture away from the skin so you can leave the thing on longer without it getting smelly, sweaty or leaving a rash on you hand. All the other ones are neoprene like material that ends up making your hand/brace stink and get a rash after extended use because they don't breath well. A few of these are good at immobilizing the thumb well but the combination of not breathing well or being somewhat difficult to attach knocks them off my list. The Thumb Spica brace was great but it had so many straps and Velcro that it was really time consuming to put on and off which wasn't what I wanted for something that I planned on wearing regularly for a month or more. This Neo G isn't bad, its easy to install, supports the thumb well, is ambidextrous, but it doesn't breath well ( and most other ones don't either).

Good but Velcro chews up surface so less adherence
I like to wear this brace to bed as it is more comfortable than the sturdier brace I wear during the day. My thumb seems to appreciate the warmth from wearing it at night. The only problem is the area where the Velcro is pulled to take the brace off is fuzzy. Sometimes I can’t get the Velcro to stick. Not sure if you can see in the first picture how there is a raised area where the Velcro has pulled the surface. Due to the susceptibility from removing, I don’t detach the Velcro connection around the thumb. I simply slide my thumb in without reattaching. I suppose eventually I will have to trim the fuzzies off.

Simple to use but Low Quality
**** Edited after a months of use:Not a long lasting product. After wearing this 4-5 times a week for 1 month, it no longer stays wrapped correctly. It slides down even when properly velcrowd. The thumb strap also has become uncomfortable and cuts into thumb when the rest of the wrap moves.Original review:This is very streamlined and easy to put on with one hand free. After reading many brand reviews, this onemade sense. It is much nicer than other braces with complex straps and plastic pieces. The thumb support is cushioned so you can’t feel the hard metal. The metal aligns perfectly with thumb bone. It is very comfortable and not bulky. The thumb mobilization is excellent without being a hinderance.I bought a different brand last month which is fine, but doesn’t compare with this one. Buy it.

Did the job for me
I need padding at the base of my left thumb to absorb the strain and shock from range shooting. It was a trigger thumb that was "corrected" through surgery. Not much of a correction unfortunately and the base of that thumb is now prone to soreness when worked or stressed. From the picture I took a chance that the Neo-G would provide some padding and relief when I went shooting. It has worked better than I could have hoped for. I keep it in my range bag now so I am sure not to forget it. I'll be ordering another to keep around the house. As much as I'd like to wear it all the time, the doc said not to because it's important that my thumb be allowed to flex lest it become permanently stiff.

Great fit. Easy on and off when I need to do some stretches. It is allowing my thumb time to heal. I can drive the car and do a host of things. I wear this brace the most, but sometimes use a different brace when I need to write or practice the piano. I can write with it, but my handwriting is not as good. I do love this brace and am super glad I have it.

Stiff, but Gentile Support.
I had a problem with my thumb, and I was moving. This was perfect for me. I took out the metal piece in it, and it's a nice, gentle brace that also provided some protection to the roughness of doing unaccustomed hard work (packing and moving boxes) while I moved. It's stiff enough to protect, but soft enough to not hurt your hand and/or thumb. It was just what I needed. It would be stiffer and prevent your thumb from moving more if I hadn't removed the metal splint. But I didn't want to completely immobilize my thumb.

Questionable thumb brace
I had trigger thumb and read online that a brace would help. This did not keep my thumb from bending. It did provide some support for the joint closest to my hand but not the end joint. It should include that it does not stabilize that joint.
