Out of the Box it Plays Fine
I bought this as a supplemental player for a second room. It only has one type of RCA connections on the back. No optical or coaxial connections. But I find that it operates perfectly and sounds very good. I have noticed no skipping. When you first turn it on it is a tad bit slow to open the cd drawer. When I say tad bit slow it does not instantly open the drawer but it is fast enough. All the commands respond nicely and when hooked up to a nice audio system it sounds very good. For the reasonable price I believe you are getting a solid basic player. It lacks connection options but if you mostly use standard RCA cables this machine will be just fine for you. One thing that impressed me is the unit is quite heavy for a cd player. It is not flimsy. And it will definitely outperform those cheap portable units out there.

Great Sound!
Besides great sound, considering it's cost, the controls are very straight forward!

Nice unit.
Very nice CD player. Sounds great and seems to have a solid build. I’ve only used the unit for a few hours so I can’t comment on longevity but so far it is working perfectlyUpdate: After playing the unit for a few more hours, it unfortunately began to skip rendering itself unusable. Very unfortunate !

Don’t waste your money
I bought this home cd player when it went on sale. Worked well at first, however then it started skipping just from walking past it while playing. It’s just too sensitive. Easy return.

Pioneer Name Good Quality
For my Home Office , this works well. Hooked up to Pioneer SX-650 from 1977. With new Sony speakers. Nice sound quality. Solid build. Attractive appearance. Remote pretty good. No mute button. On/Off button has a Standbye Mode. Fooled me but I figured it out. LOL. Nice Unit.

Pioneer audio components my favorites
I've had to replace the Cd player in my all Pioneer system, and I wanted to stay with Pioneer equipment, because I consider it to be the best in quality, and "sound" and value ( among the different systems that my friends own ). I've had my Pioneer system ( Cd player, Amplifier, and speakers ) for so long, I can't remember when I purchased them, and this is the first time I've replaced a component.
