We had to call movers
The safe arrived via truck on a pallet. I asked the delivery guy to stick around so I could inspect the safe and it's locking mechanism. After the inspection, I signed for it.This safe is SUBSTANTIAL. We had to call movers to relocate this safe from outside (where I instructed the shipper to leave it) to an interior room. It was really quite surprising that 235 lbs. be so difficult to move. It took two pretty burly guys to move it on four-arm crane with back supports.I'm pretty darn sure this safe is not going anywhere. The mechanism is very smooth and ACCURATE. No sloppy tumblers in this case. The safe came with a desiccant package. I liked that we could customize our combination by contacting Keith at "Steelwater Safe". My husband and I are completely happy with this safe. It looks good, it would be extremely hard to steal. What I love most about it is no more trips to the vaults. I grew up with high quality safes in homes and I'm glad to see the quality of this safe does not disappoint.

Part Safe, Part Tank. This thing is solid!
First off, this thing is a tank! It's not a large safe, but it must be solid metal. I'm 6'5", 230lbs and lift weights, I had to have help moving this thing. If you're planning to go up or down steps, be sure to have help. If you're on one level, then with a dolly you can manage. While moving it, it fell off my dolly, the corner chipped and a hinge. This had no effect on it's operation, but I was surprised how easily the paint chipped. So, be careful moving it, the smallest drop will chip the paint. It shows up on a large truck, wrapped on a pallet. Also, when you go to move it, the door does lift off. Open the safe and then lift up on the door, it will lift off the hinge and reduce the weight a little.I noticed, in the picture there is a seal around the door, mine does not have that. The door seems to fit a little loose without this seal. Makes me a little nervous about how fireproof it is. I read somewhere it swells shut when in heat, so I'm assuming the door will tighten up in a fire. I'm very happy with this safe and feel "It's the Real Deal". Would buy again.

Heavy and looks tough
The Steelwater safe AMSWFB (235lbs) I received seemed to have slight design changes from what's pictured when I bought this in 2022 from amazon and since it's a rainy day I'm finally writing this review. The combination knob is more centered and lines up with the handle, cosmetically I guess it looks better. It also has a small pin that sticks out inside so when opened you can't lock the safe, I noticed this is not in the one pictured. Mine did have the seal around the door. It's tough but it's not a TL rated safe, definitely bolt it down. Even though it says it's a1/2 hole to bolt it down a 5/8 bolt did fit in mine, tight fit with no wiggle room. I used a drop-in anchor into concrete that you hammer to lock in place. Make sure your drill locations into the floor are accurate especially in a corner or against a wall. BTW mine did not come with the anchor bolt. One curious thing, I decided to peek behind the curtain and remove the back plate. I noticed the re-locker was to the side misaligned not in place, easy fix just positioning it but I don't know if that spring has enough force to engage the re-locker if needed. You can see the glass back there so don't go banging things around, lol.

In Love with this Safe
This is very nice and heavy and better than I imagined it would be. I love it. You definitely need help moving this unless you can heavy lift 300 lbs. I recommend this to anyone who wants to protect valuables from theft and fire. The delivery was no issue. I bought a larger safe from this brand earlier and when it arrived on the delivery company truck you could see it was damaged and dented. I did what was told to do in the delivery instructions, I refused the delivery. They took it right back with them and I got a refund the same day. Then I ordered this smaller one and it came delivered in perfect condition. I used a hand cart and a strong man to help get it up my three steps into the house. :)

The door opens and shuts like a a bank vault
Outstanding quality. The customer service was top notch. After researching for days on the big box store 'safes' that are really no more than a light deterrent and not actually safes at all, I found Steelwater safes to be the safe that I kept coming back to.No mistake about it, these are real safes for your valuables. The dial is buttery smooth with no play. The door opens and shuts like a a bank vault. If you want a safe and not a big box store pretend safe with digital keypads, and plastic gears, this is the safe for you.

only half as thick as you are lead to believe
Keith at steelwater answering one question about drilling the safe and in regards to steel thickness claims that each layer of steel is AROUND 1/8 in thickness and then answering another question about steel thickness, claims it is 1.6 mm in thickness. Wow kind of sad.... because 1.6 mm is equal to 1/16 of an inch which is only half as thick as 1/8 of an inch. 1/16 is not around 1/8 it is not even close to 1/8 it is only half as thick. Keith you should speak the truth for those you represent.

Solid safe, rugged, burglary rated.
Solid and very heavy. For a somewhat small safe it weighs about 240 pounds. I wanted something with a decent fire rating and this was it. There is a cheaper version but it's not burglary rated. Why get a safe if it's not burglary rated? Just hope I never get locked out of it.

What a Tank of a safe!
AS well built as anything I have ever seen in a smaller safe. Excellent dial, combination is dead on every time. This was money well spent!
