Bodum 15oz Pavina Double Wall High-Heat Borosilicate Glass, Set of 2, Clear

I have used these for over 25 years with very little breakage which has always been due to mishandling. I just placed an order for some replacements as I just accidently knocked one over from my table onto my hardwood floor, and no surprise, it shattered. These glasses are NOT your typical inexpensive 'everyday' drinking glasses. They are fine glassware and need to be treated as such. However, I have never had an issue cleaning them in top rack my dishwasher provided they only touch the rack and NOT other items and are in the proper place so that they are not bounced around during washing. Being made of borosilicate glass they are more resistance to breakage than standard glass but not immune. That is why Bodum recommends never put ice in the glass first as if dropped in, being hard, along with sudden temperature extreme it could result in breakage. When cleaning from things like coffee or tea stains that occur with all glasses, I never use an abrasive powder like Bartenders Friend. Instead, I use something like Bon Ami, as abrasives can scratch glass that can lead to failure. I also use a non-stick scrubbing pad or a special 'brush' for deep glassware, rather than the harsher pads for the same reasons. Obviously, you need good judgement in a party atmosphere where they could suffer abuse or be dropped. The same goes when using them around children or 'adult children'. One Other 'trick' I have in my kitchen, which has hardwood floors is to place soft 'rubber'mats on the floor around counter areas. This not only creates a more comfortable working area for your feet, but it also reduces the likelihood of anything breaking when getting knocked off the counter or fallout out of a cabinet above, including these glasses. That has saved them several times for me as they bounce rather than break. With proper care these glasses have lasted me for many years without issue and could last a lifetime. Some cons about them, is that due to their shape they are easily knocked over if lightly struck near the top. This would be true for any glass of this shape. Since they have smooth sides, they can slip out of hands when wet as would any glass with smooth sides. The glasses are also have no warranty against breakage as their is no way that Bodum can determine if it was due to mishandling. But neather does any other fine glassware such as Waterford. Some reviewer had read made comments about being marketed as 'hand blown'. It actually refers to the manufacturing process which is to attach the chunk molten glass to some kind of a pipe and having air blown through the pipe, sometimes into an external, or sand mold to shape the molten glass into the glass shape. The other more common commercial process is to pour a chunk of molten glass into a 2 part mold that shapes it, and then take the mold apart to remove the the fully forned object. This also leaves an undesirible seam where the parts of the mold met, but is more suitable for mass production. Centuries ago craftsman made glassware by dipping a pipe into a pot of molten glass in the furnace and blew through the pipe turning it and using tools to shape the final piece. This process still used today as a hobby or for limited speciality glass objects. It also comes with a risk of silicosis for the craftsman, a lung disease as it allow glass particles of glass to get into the lungs often resulting in a shorter lifespan. Molten glass is actually never shaped by hand as its molten temperature is 2000°- 3000°F. I sincerly hope that this information can result in informed decision being made for the purchase and handling of this product to achieve satisfaction and a long life of it.

Unexpectedly sturdy and great as everyday mugs. I have an old set of smaller espresso-size Bodums from about twenty years ago that I love, but I initially tried to save a few dollars and buy a different brand when I wanted glass mugs. They proved really fragile and not truly dishwasher-safe because of the vent design, so I got these Bodums instead and am really happy I did. They fit well under the spout of my Nespresso Creatista, and they’re perfectly sized for milk coffee drinks and americanos (and they also work great for tea). I use them daily and treat them just like any old ceramic mug in terms of getting bumped around in the sink with other dishes, running through the dishwasher, etc., and they’ve held up great. They also do fine in the microwave and keep my drinks warm for awhile, and the double walls mean no coaster is required. The one-way valve plug in the bottom is a definite functional upgrade from the open hole of my older Bodums, and it’s not really visually noticeable and gives peace of mind when putting them in the dishwasher. Would definitely recommend spending slightly more for this reputable brand with a proven design.

I love these things. Drinking coffee out of one of these glasses is addictive. It stays warm like it's in a stainless tumbler (not quite, but much better than a regular glass) with the sensory feeling of drinking from glass. There are however 2 VERY VERY big caveats to owning these glasses that may be a deal breaker for you. But keep in mind, this applies to ALL double wall glass tumblers. It doesn't apply to plastic or metal ones. 1) They are very delicate. I probably break one every 6 months. 2) They (and all double wall glass cups) need to be hand washed. If that works for you, they are awesome.

Bought these to replace a set bought years and years ago - so happy they still make them! They are so elegant and modern, and such a great quality. They are a perfect size and the the double wall keeps you from burning your fingers when you have a hot drink in them. I would recommend hand washing instead of putting them in the dishwasher since they are a bit fragile.

I love these glasses so much. They are double wall insulated and have a vent on the bottom as well; they will not collect condensation on the sides. You can use them for hot beverages or cold beverages. You can put them in the dishwasher or hand wash them. They are the perfect size and have a good feel when you take a drink.

Great home iced latte glass. Light but well constructed. Keeps iced and hot drinks at their ideal temperature for hours. High quality mouth blown glass. As someone who drinks 2-3 small iced lattes a day, these are the perfect form and function. Highly recommend for all iced drink lovers. Update 2 days later after delivery: These glasses are extremely fragile. A drying empty glass fell over on my countertop and the whole glass broke. So a simple knock over is at high risk of breaking these glasses. Therefore I would only recommend these with soft surfaces and will generally not travel. 4/5.

These add class and function to my coffee station. They call you in the morning at noon and evening have a coffee no matter which one. The 8oz capacity and construction ease of cleaning and pleasant feel of the glass on the lips without burning them with your hot coffee is much appreciated.

I tried these double-wall glasses for the first time a few months ago. They are so great that I wonder where they have been all my life. They are so great that I purchased the double-wall 8 ounce and large coffee mugs as well. They keep hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold for long periods. No ice needed for my iced coffee. I can put my morning coffee in the mug down for a while and it's still hot when I pick it up again. My only complaint is that they are smooth and not as easy to pick up and hold as my etched glasses. So if they can figure out how to make double-wall etched glasses I would appreciate it.

Products are ok but it wasn’t Bodum!!

A must for people who are serious about what they put in their cup. If you’re like me and like to sip instead of chug, these are the cups for you. The double-walled construction helps to keep my hot or cold drinks at desired temp longer. It’s not a thermos so it won’t keep hot drinks piping hot but then again , it’s a cup after all. In addition to the 12 oz mugs , I also have the espresso cups. I hand wash but they can go in dishwasher. I’ll slowly replace all of my drinking cups with the Bodum brand and I will start gifting them to family so that they can experience the quality and I can drink from these cups at their homes! Quality, sustainability and beauty, buy them.

Patented for a reason! I have tried many styles and brands - the only twin wall glasses that have never filled with water (especially in the dishwasher) is Bodum. Pricey - but for a reason. These are the best. The most durable and the best to hold - slimmer less chunky.
