Why do they add tapioca starch if cats do not need carbohydrates?

How long can this product sit on a shelf unopened ? I would like to buy ahead for a few months because you seem to run out of the salmon cuts.

Like any other cat food it does have an expiration date. It is usually a year and a few months from purchase. I just purchased a case that has expiration date of 11/02/2019 so I would imagine if you want to stock up for several months - it’s possible! Hope this helped.

How do you open them without it squirting/splashing all over you?

Received this product in June 2020, the ingredients listed on the website are wrong. Listing says the main ingredient is chicken or turkey broth, it isn't. The main ingredient is water. This cat food is mostly water. Sheba needs to list the correct ingredients for this item.
