I am a beginning carver and own flexcut knives. I realized that if I were to continue with my carving, I'd have to learn how to sharpen.I read and viewed so many blogs and videos, that I really didn't know where to turn, until I found Dan's website. I liked their products and called the company. They were helpful and knowledgeable.I lrdered this set, and when it came, I was impressed with the quality and packaging.Well, I followed the instructions, starting with the Medium, then moved to the Fine, then Extra Fine.Excellent results, right away. The kit has a built in guide, which really helped set the correct angle. When I finished, I went to my leather strop.Well, I couldn't be happier with the results. My detail knife was very sharp, and was a joy to use.I would definately purchase other products from Dan's Whetstone!

I was looking for a stone set that could put a great edge on some older hunting knives. Each knife had its own varying degree of neglect over the years, some being much worse than others. Having 4 stones allows for a level of flexibility as some required a little time on the course stone and others could be started off on the medium stone. I am happy to say that this set brought those knives back to razor sharp with a quickness. The built in angle guide is very helpful and the storage tube, which holds both the stones and oil bottle is extremely convenient. Don't forget to buy a larger bottle of oil so that you can refill the smaller bottle as required. This was a great purchase.

This is a very nice product. I've used pocket knifes as a backpacker. After getting a Swiss Army Knife book of Whittling that emphasized 'sharp' but gave no idea what this means I used my backpacker knife without success. I used my stones and still had no luck. I found this Alabama set on-line and used it. Wallah! I now know what sharp means. My old stones were coarse and fine and I now know inappropriate for a fine edge. The Alabama set does a great jog. I've used all four stones and followed the basic directions. Honing oil is included and they mention mineral oil works too. This works well on a pen knife and up to some length should work for you too. The bevels on the block are all at the same angle which I am guessing is about 15 degrees.

I was a little concerned because the stones are not wide; however they are long and you can easily run the blade over it to get the sharp edge. I also like the 4 stone choices. Ultra fine to Coarse and I have used them all. I had a knife that was probably 20 years old and I had never sharpened it. It took some time but I was thrilled when it sliced a tomato with nice clean edges.

Nothing to dislike about the stones, they all seem to be of good quality. A really sharp edge can be obtained in a matter of minutes. I really like the setup. A real good purchase.

These stones are in a wooden block that has an angle IOT get the desired angle. This is a great Arkansas stone block that has all the grits that are offered in these natural stones. The best overall pack back sharper I've owned.

Really awesome stone. Used it on my kabar and it's now VERY sharp. I love how the edge gives you the angle you're supposed to take your stroke with. However, it was assembled incorrectly and the end that tells you which stone is which is off by 1/4 turn. I just marked out the words and re wrote them in the right place. For what I paid for this thing it really should be right. Disappointing.

Very nice quality sharpener with four grits.I sharpen Xacto blades as well as kitchen knives.The honing oil is a must.I did lots of research on stones and this is the best kit for your money.

These stones are the best love the product and recomend worth the money
