On new TV's , the RC Jacks, and s video, on many, no longer exist, only HDMI on most now. So I got this because I have a Old Pioneer LazerDisc player, and it has RC and S Video only, no HDMI, SO THIS DID THE TRICK !

Probably yes. The smart TV almost certainly accepts the HDMI input and almost no VCR's include an HDMI output, so this will convert the VCR's audio and video outputs to something the TV can accept.. This device will provide a much better picture if your VCR includes an S-video output, but it will be acceptable on the coax video (yellow RCA connector). I am impressed with how well it functions with S-video.

If the output from you cable box is HDMI and the input on your DVD recorder takes the opposite end Phono plugs then yes it should work.
