Heavy duty quantitative survey
This is not a fun book to read, but it is a vitally important one. It's heavy going, crammed with data, and is designed (I would presume) for an academic, scholarly, student or economist audience. It combines the best recent research on British economic development during the very long-term perspective with a keen eye on the part of the editors for highlighting trends, connections and questions that are yet to be answered. Personally, with an interest in histories of globalisation, I would have liked more about international trade, but the focus on the domestic economy is, for much for this period, the more important feature and rightly commands the majority of the editors attention.

The long view in statistics
This book is a modern classic of economic history. It provides this generation with an overview of the growth of the British economy in the long run
