Let the insanity consume you!
Laces is one of those books where you think you know what to expect going in, but you're so wrong in the best possible ways. I was expecting a pretty girl to be committed and then to be bullied by the "crazy" yet oh so attractive guy. Fortunately Laces is so much more than that! This is a slow burn, angsty type of book that will leave you salivating for more. It didn't take me long to finish but these characters and their stories are going to stay with me for a very long time. This is the first asylum bully romance that I've read and I now feel sorry for all that come after because Tempi Lark has set the bar impossibly high! Now that I've expressed how wonderful I feel that this book is, I've got to be honest with my criticisms. This book could've used a little more meat. I understand the author was dealing with illness and complications so that can be forgiven this time around, but her illness did affect the story. I feel like the characters' stories could've been fleshed out more and that the ending came abruptly. Granted, I don't think that I will ever have enough of these characters!! Still I feel as if the ending was equivalent of somebody ending their story in the middle of a sentence. The bright side of this though is that I now cannot wait to read what comes next! There were also quite a few wording errors/typos that I feel should've been caught prior to release. These errors don't detract from the overall story, but I feel like editors, beta readers, early reviewers, etc should've caught these and notified the author prior since they were quite noticeable.Laces is definitely worth the click and read. No book can ever be "perfect," but this one is still easily a great read. The characters are nuanced and play well off each other. The setting is different and could be a story in and of itself. The story itself leaves you excited and wary about what comes next all while not wanting it to end anytime soon. If my criticisms have you thinking it's not worth it, rest assured Laces is most definitely worth the read! I highly recommend that you one click and get started as soon as possible because you're going to need some downtime to process what was read and return to sanity.

not ready to rate
If it were a tv show it was more like the ending of an episode, not the ending of a season - which fine, that can be done but to me there just wasn’t enough “meat” in the story to consider it a book.I’m going to focus on the spoilers because I am very confused and I feel like this is going to be a twisty mystery to resolve all of the inconsistencies. The ending leads us to assume that Laces and Gam are step-siblings? How? I went over this book again just to make sure i wasn’t misunderstanding, but in the beginning Dr. Young refers to Laces father as Mr. Caster, who owns Caster Industries - manufacturing cars and travels a lot and Laces also refers to him as “an artist.” Not that you can’t be an artist and also run a company and also be a lawyer but seems like a very long day. Gam’s stepfather is named Joseph Evans. He’s Charlottes District Attorney, IN THE PUBLIC EYE. Even if Laces was already in the asylum before this trial, a district attorney is in the public eye quite frequently. he would have been in the papers and on the news before this time, Laces would have seen him. if he’s living a double life, are we meant to believe that he was never pictured in any of the court documents or on any of the videos or reporters interviewing those involved?? Or perhaps he’s a twin, which is a stretch but maybe? Still doesn’t explain the different last names. And again, being a district attorney means you’re in the public eye. Are we never going to acknowledge the Laces would’ve have seen this guy on TV and been like “hey he looks like my dad?” Joseph was also with Gam’s mother for quite a long time, years, you’re telling me stepchildren never came up?And for step daddy/daddy to show up at the end in front of the two of them is awfully risky. Not only does the nurse know him as the attorney, because she conveyed the information to Laces, why wouldn’t she be confused that the same guy is trying to get the girl locked up in section C is also this guy‘s father but never brings it up? But also that he’s risking putting doubt in other peoples minds when this girl says “this is my stepfather who x’d my sister.”My head hurts

insanity!!!
Gambrielle and Laces!!!!!Welcome to Hawthorne Asylum!“The rules are subjective.” - LacesWhat happens when you band together misfits of society to reform them and throw them to Hawthorne Asylum you will get the infamous four. Now Gam seems to find herself due to unfortunate circumstances.A Dark bully romance where Laces and Gam seem to be drawn to one another. Where Gam is the light, Laces is the darkness that will swallow you whole if you are not careful. Get read for a bumpy ride that is full of suspense and a earth sharing plot twist. The plot is amazing, I just couldn’t put it down, and finished the book in less than a day. Not your typical bully romance, the setting brings a different element and feel.Gam a sweet girl finds herself at the Asylum. On her first day she meets Laces… she is scared but curious as to whom he is. She is in a quest to obtain justice for her sister and the only way she can obtain it is to survive Hawthorne and play smart.Laces a disturb individual. His sketches are gruesome and inthralling. Laces along with his three other friends run Hawthorne. Nothing is what it seems and the power they hold seems to hold in the balance with Gam appearance. Can’t wait for the next book!!!

Intriguing read
I saw this book on tiktok and thought I would give it a read. The plot is interesting and you want to be drawn in by it, but I felt it was a slow burn, as it leaves you on a cliff hanger with not much if the story given to you. I loved the legends, each one unique in their own way and I would love to see more of these characters. It was also very tame for a rh romance and there wasn't any serial scenes in it, so if you prefer a tamer romance with a little edge this would be a starter. I want to see where this story goes, but I felt it wasn't dark enough for me.

Boys of hawthorne asylum
I can not express how much I loved this book. It was so much more than I expected. I couldn't put it down. Peter pan is one of my all time favourite Disney films and although it has nothing to do with it per se Emily McIntire managed to link in so many of the characters names etc it was fantastic.
