is this food safe?

The technical answer is our products are not food-safe. Although we are currently working on getting our epoxies tested and certified for food-safe uses. All our products are as safe as epoxy can be for food contact but are not FDA compliant as they don’t offer this approval anymore to any products containing BPA. To put this into perspective, there’s less BPA’s in our products once cured than what’s in plastic drinking bottles but it does have a small percentage that is worth keeping in mind. It’s safe for incidental food contact but not recommended for anything where an alcoholic beverage or anything that can be a solvent is introduced.

My advice would be to use them without worry about anything that dry food is going to be placed on (apples, meats, cheese, etc..) but if there’s something like a beverage or a wet food such as a sliced orange or similar product then I’d avoid that.

You can also coat it with a food-safe oil or wax, you can also use a polyurethane finish which won't wear as fast as an oil or wax finish will. but you have to allow it to fully cure before it is considered food-safe, The rule of thumb for full curing is 30 days at room temperature (65- to 75- degrees F).  then you can be 100% worry-free with your project.

I haven’t had it long enough but I really don’t think so only thing like that I came across was I made a huge bar top in kinda a dusty basement so my last laying was a little foggy

2 parts resin, 1 part hardener. By volume. The 60L kits includes 40L of resin and 20L of hardener.

Is it better to use liquid or powder tint with flowcast when pouring a river type table?

That's a good question. Both have merits. In our shop, we personally prefer metallic powders from EcoPoxy due to the depth of figure that transpires during the cure and the ability to create a wide range of shades by mixing various powdered pigments. Powders allow more freedom to adjust the degree of transparency that you are seeking as well. Metallic powders also reflect light, again giving more interest in the final product.

Liquids are relatively easy to work with, but there is less variety in the liquid pigments for color and they tend have a higher opacity (e.g. less see-through) final product. They don't give you the same "swirl" effect that metallic powders due in the final cure. That can be a positive, depending on the end result you're looking for. They blend well into the resin/hardener mix and have less risk of pigment clusters, which sometimes occur with pigment powders (though that tends to be negligible and not usually an aesthetic issue).

Both work well, and it's a matter of preference.

Powders = generally more variety in color and transparency options and more figure/swirl in the finished product. Liquids = consistency, easier to achieve opacity (no transparency) and less figure and swirl if that is what you desire.
