Direct bolt-on replacement for our Chrysler’s heater hose
Direct bolt-on replacement for our Chrysler’s heater hose, only these are better because they have metal tubes where the original tubes were made of plastic which eventually cracked and failed!Good price, easy job. Save a bunch of money by doing this easy replacement job yourself. Don’t forget to buy some appropriate Chrysler/Mopar antifreeze for when you do this job. I wouldn’t trust the “Universal Antifreeze” as a replacement, it’s an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

Great upgrade
I had this Y fail years ago before the aftermarket had a solution. At the time I fixed it with a T. Well the T put extra stress on the hose so it failed again recently. I was glad to see the aftermarket now has a solution.

Worked great
Worked great for a 2010 VW Routan, 3.8L. Easy to install. I did have to remove the quick disconnect fitting so it would go onto the existing cooler line. I also used some emery cloth to clean the surfaces of the fittings and put silicone grease around them so they slid on easier. I had to use one clamp from the old hose set in place of the QD fitting.

A great alternative to OEM parts
I've had to replace the heater hose assembly on my 2009 VW Routon three times in the 9 years I've had the van. The first two times I replaced the assembly I used the factory parts from the dealer. The factory parts use a plastic connector for the y-spillter and each time these failed it was due to the y-splitter cracking and falling apart. When the second one failed again I looked for an alternative and found Dorman version that uses alloy metal fittings for the y-spitter. Since installing this version I've not had any leaks or cracks. Its a bit tricky to install as its located in a tight area, but its easily done in an after noon or two. Since I've had experience replacing this part set I was able to do it in a couple of hours. But I feel its a job even a mostly inexperienced person would be able to do.I definitely consider the Dorman a worth while and even necessary upgrade to the factory plastic assembly. If you're worried about using non factory parts know this this really is an upgrade that's worth doing and the quality of the assembly surpasses the factory parts.

Buyer Beware! Use your own hose clamps!
Price seems ok, given the metal splitters that presumably hold up to the temperature extremes of the Northland better than the plastic splitters do. I purchased these and had my local Pros install them so as to let them handle the bleeding procedures. 4 months later, a clamp failed, emptying my coolant, and stranding me! Not happy, but what are you gonna do? I think others might be warning the same, but I didn't pay attention.

Both METAL assemblies for 80, compared to 1 plastic for 50? No-Brainer!
Replaced a 6 month old (Amazon-purchased) Gates solution with this, because it started leaking earlier this week. These clamps are the easier type to use (no tab to stop you from squeezing too far), so was able to slide further up the hose for install, and easier to get into place. 10 minutes and I had the engine running!Having a metal Y instead of plastic I will expect to last longer.Pleasant surprise was you DO get both assemblies as shown in the picture, for both supply and return lines. So you get 2 METAL units for $80+ with this, compared to $50ish for 1 POS plastic Gates unit.I guess Gates is proud of their name or something (Im not of their product!).

Metal “Y” connections
Replaces the garbage plastic “Y” connections with metal “Y” connections. Finally! Don’t know why it took them 10plus years to correct this issue

The best solution... almost.
As one of my original Engine Heater Hose Assemblies was leaking, I did research on different repair options. I decided to go with Dorman’s solution as it seemed to be the best solution and the price was not outrageous.I purchased it through Amazon, not paying much attention to the pictures. When I received the hose assemblies I was astounded to see that there were six screw clamps securing the hoses to the Y pipes. Looking closer on Amazon I see the pictures show these screw clams. Dorman’s website shows it to use proper spring clamps. These screw clamps make it look Home-made.To make matters worse, when I installed the frontmost hose assembly, the clamps (being longer than necessary) interfered with nearby electrical components in the engine bay. I ended up removing it and removed the screw clamps on this assembly and replaced them with the spring clamps from the factory assembly. I don’t understand why Dorman’s website shows proper spring clamps, but through Amazon we get oversized screw clamps that are a hazard in the engine bay.Had this come with proper spring clams as shown on Dorman’s website, this would be the 5 star solution.Edit: I noticed that the pictures here on amazon have been updated to show spring clams. If they now come like this, I would say it would now make for now a 5 star purchase.
