OVERALL: I purchased this for travel, but I'm tempted to just toss the other shaving puck to just use this from hereon out. Here's why: - Dense velvety lather happens instantly. - This particular type of moisture provides a better glide of the blade + non-greasy soft and nourished skin. - Scent is just enough and not too much; it offers a clean scent that is pleasant and doesn't linger. More observations are listed below :) SCENT: This smells clean (not any red flags, not cheap vanilla, not fruity, not like candy, and not like a flowery 90 year old woman). The scent won't be noticeable throughout the day. This will not make one's nose run, as there is nothing chemical about this scent. This product isn't trying desperately to cover up someone's stink. Avoid if each product you put on your body needs to hide a multitude of bad life choices and stench / body odor ... or choose to not be a stinker and clean up your life (that last choice is highly preferred for those of us who may use elevators with you from time to time). LATHER: This provides an instant luxurious thick robust lather (no just flimsy bubbles) without much effort; it's day and night compared to the other vegan and non-tallow shaving soaps I've used. This gives my razor a better glide on the skin even with a heavy hand, it seemed to be impossible to nick myself when shaving with this. MOISTURE: This definitely left more moisture on my legs without needing as much lotion. Yeah! PACKAGING: The container is a plastic screw top with the shaving soap poured into the container, so it would not be super easy to transfer this to an aluminum shaving tin. but it would be possible. The container is fine and I think I'll keep it, as it's easy for travel. SOAP FORM: The shave soap is not a puck, but poured and cooled in the screw-top plastic container. Initially this made me purchase another option, but I decided that this could be my travel shave soap and pulled the trigger. One could probably find a way to dislodge this from the container if it mattered enough and they were tenacious.

The smell is alright, I might try a different scent next time. It lathers really well and makes my husband’s skin, nice and smooth.

WOW! This brand of shave soap is the best I’ve ever tried. I’ve gotten two different scents(emerald grove and barbershop) they both smell exquisite and the lather is unmatched. The tallow base combined with my badger hair brush makes for a perfect lather. I shave my entire head at least every other day and a can lasted me over a year. I repurchased to try the barbershop scent and it was the best shave experience over ever had.

First of all, the customer service is excellent! I had a complaint with the sandalwood after shave balm that I had ordered. Their balm is very good,and I had ordered it before. The last order had hardly any scent to it. But the most importent thig to me is how the balm soothes my skin. Anyhow, I emailed them about the lack of scent. They sent my a replacement by priorty mail. They did not even ask me to send the ones I got back. Now as far as the soap goes; this is my favorite. It has a nice sandalwood smell. I wish it was a little stronger like Proraso Red. But most important is that it lathers great! It makes for a very smooth, slick shave. It does not irritate or dry out my skin like some soaps do. As I said I like the scent of Proraso Red better, but this soap lathers and performs much better. I would say that it performs just as well as Mitchells Wool Fat, but it is alot easier to lather. Of course YMMV, and scents can be a matter of taste. I really like the fact that there are not a lot of chemicals in this. I have very sensitive skin with a tough beard. I have tried many other soaps, and I think that the combination of tallow, glycerin, and shea butter really make this a great product. I highly recommand this soap! You can always return it if you don't like it. I also recommand the aftreshave balm. However, you save money by ordering the 2 oz instead of the 1 oz.

I have tried a number of shave soaps and creams. I saw some of the reviews and had to try it. I am now sold on these tallow based soaps. I am getting the best shaves and it leaves your face felling hydrated. Get a good brush and a good bowl and you are on your way to a great shaving experience. Just came back to add that I've been using this shave soap for a month now. I shave every day. Even with daily shaving I have hardly made a dent in this puck. This is going to last a long time!. I leave the puck in the container it arrived in, wet my shaving brush and then use it to add the soap to the brush. After loading the brush I then swirl the brush in my shaving bowl. This creates a very generous foam that simply feels amazing on the face.

Short on fragrance, short on lather and over-priced compared to other soaps. Very little fragrance of any kind actually. Overall disappointing. The best luxury shaving cream? I think not. 'Will not order again.

Soapy, warm and wet. Smells great all over my face.
