The indicator shipped defective from the factory. From my experience with the Fowler name brand this is pretty much par for Fowler. Its a good thing I have a couple interapid's to keep me running.I'm glad amazon stands by their products. They gave me a full refund.Really if you are considering a digital test indicator I would recommend waiting until interapid makes one.

It's just evolution!
No doubt it takes some getting used to and no, it doesn't completely replace the standard needle indicator, but it does have it's advantages. The rotating dial makes it easy to read from any perspective and the digital dial reduces mistakes. I have been waiting a long time for the digital test indicator.

Exactly as described. Our QC guy (at work) was impressed by the resolution and accuracy. Just note that if you rotate the face -EVEN A LITTLE- you must zero it again. In its' defence though, you shouldn't be touching it while you're measuring anyway. To get the most out of it- pair it up with a quality base.

I'll let you know if it's great but out of the box, I have no idea since it showed up with a dead battery! Almost $300 and I have to go out to find a battery. Not a great first impression.

This is an exceptional device for the money. Lots of features, easy to use... I just can't turn it off!! I came online to find a manual, Fowler does not seem to have them available via PDF. They also do not accept tech service phone calls on the weekend...
