YippyGroove Expanding Water Beads - Grass Green

I'll be up front: I never heard of this stuff before stumbling on it while browsing Amazon. I was intrigued, and decided to give it a shot as I own a large...."water pipe" (16" tall beaker style with an ice catcher).So after almost a month, here are my thoughts. 1)These beads expand A LOT once they absorb the water! The package I received was enough to fill two 1 liter bottles once they achieved full size, so unless you have a lot of glassware to fill, hydrate a pinch of the beads.2)Despite what people say, DO NOT FREEZE these beads! Freezing the beads will destroy them, so keep that in mind. You can throw them in the freezer for a few minutes to chill them, but don't forget them. I would suggest storing them in the fridge if you want to keep cold ones handy.3)These are NOT a replacement for water, they simply can't filter the way water does. They do diffuse the smoke, but the point of water is a smoother hit through filtration, not diffusion. Diffusion helps filtration, however.4)When used WITH water, these beads are great! These beads are noticeably cooler than room temp, and when in water, they will actually chill the water! It's not ice cold by any means, but it definitely makes a difference! They also help diffuse the smoke in the water so you get a smother draw!5)They DO help keep the glass clean. My glass is used heavily, and gets a large buildup of resin (and ash) at the water line. It has to be cleaned every few weeks to get rid of the buildup before it becomes too much. These beads have prevented that buildup, instead I can just change the water and rinse one a week! They don't CLEAN the "pipe", but they do prevent the buildup.6)They look cool! I wish I could find some in a deep colors, rather than the pastels I see from everyone, but even so it adds some color to my clear glass!7) I have reused the beads several times just by rinsing and replacing the water. You can dehydrate them after use and rehydrate when you need again, also. TL;DR- Cool beads get huge, great with water, makes the glass look cool and clean(er)!

I put 30 in water and took pictures every four hours to find that they didn’t get as big as I thought they’d get.69 of these fit into my smallest bong with just a little more room to add about 10 more.Edit: It's been a couple days and I'll never use water in a bong again, I'm hooked. I put some in a waterless bong andeven in that, it's amazing.

Don't buy them. Go for plastic beads. These are nothing but a pain. You need to soak them 24 hours before use. Since they come so small and expand so much you can't tell how many to soak. So I soaked all of them. The description says you can freeze them. So I froze what didn't fit in my bong. Yeah well once they thawed they turned to MUSH. Great for a pool toy for kids, not for smoking.

So far I am enjoying these. The directions said to use half the pack at a time. I used a quarter of the pack and it was still way too many. Not sure if I have a small piece, but I do reccomend only using a small amount at a time.I use them with enough water to cover the stem of my piece and it hits nice. They cool the water down and they look really neat.I've been rinsing and reusing the same ones for a week and they show no sign of needing thrown out yet. They also make it easier to clean resin and junk from my glass as well.Definitely worth the small price for a cool addition to my stash. Will order more when I run out.

They work quite well and really do keep everything cleaner. Better if you use them chilled and put more in than you think you should. I read to put them up to the line the water normally would be, but the hit was very harsh, so I more than doubled the amount of beads and it was SO MUCH better. Don't pull as hard as you would with water because your throat will be hit massively. Enjoy!

Colorful, hold their shape well. I change mine about every third time I clean. They help the rubbing alcohol clean the glass, too! Just be sure use some sudsy water after! Fuschia and Blue are the brightest colors. Green not so much. I have bought them many times!

I tried these as instructed. Expanded in water just fine. Added 10 to my water pipe, the max recommended, to the dry pipe. Extremely harsh, even with a light pull. Then I froze some and it was no better. Plus some had disintegrated and some were mush. Some have said that using double or triple the amount works better. It still doesn't compare with water. Also the residue was still on the glass, not the beads. Save your money for super coarse salt and alcohol.

I followed all instructions on how to soak them and let them grow. It said on there that you can freeze them for a better cooler experience...so I stuck them in the freezer. They all busted into nothing. I never even got to try them before freezing 😭 has anyone else had this happen?
