Excellent Starter Kit for wet shaving
This is an Excellent Starter Kit for wet shaving. Everything they provide you get is a pretty good value for the price of the kit. The toiletry bag does have a fair amount of room inside of it so if you need a new one or want a separate bag for your shaving items/facial cleansers this will def fit the bill. The quality and feel of the bag is also rather nice and it should last for quite some time. The blades are very nice. I did move on to a different set of blades from Feather Razor Blades. To me at least they just shave better. The safety razer is very nice for a traveling kit/2nd to your main and or using to learn (as I did). The grip is nice and it's easy to control on your face when you shave. I did move on to one from Manscape that was heaver as I like the extra weight on the safety razer for handling and it helps make a cleaner shave. The brush is good. After every use I always see a few hairs that have come out but it still have tons of hairs on the brush and great. I'll eventually upgrade to something else but till then the one from this kit will last quite a while. The stand that the brush and razer sit on works just fine. No issues and it's got a big enough base where it won't fall over. The soap's fragrance to me is "meh". I don't love it but I don't hate it and the smell doesn't last that long which is nice. The soap does froth up quite well and lasts a long time in the bowel while your shaving so your not constantly putting water into the bowel and using up more soap. The bowl is rather small. You put the soap puck in there and as your lathering it up it quickly fills the bowl and it will spill everywhere. It's not large enough to create a good amount of suds without making a mess. I had to go an buy a larger one that was big enough so I didn't have to constantly clean up the bathroom counter with each shave. However it's small enough where it's great for traveling so I can live with the mess in the hotels for 1-2 nights vs dealing with it every single day. The aluminum salt block is rather nice. It takes a bit getting used to when you need to rub it over some cuts or irritated skin (it does sting but it doesn't' last long nor is it painful). However I can notice the difference when I need to use it so I'll def keep buying them. This small block will last for a long time. I gave this a 5/5 just cause of the sheer value of what you get and the overall quality is pretty good. The bowl was the biggest issue for me in this kit but not enough to knock it down to 4 starts. If I could I'd give it a 4.5/5 as I did have to spend extra money on a larger bowl. I Would def recommend this to someone who wants to learn how to wet shave and start with this set or if they just want a travel set this would also fit the bill quite nicely.

Great kit
So I typically don’t shave but when I do, I prefer the safety razors. Lately my skin got too dry and irritated so I shaved my beard off to let it recover. Then I decided to keep it off for a while to change it up. I have always wanted to try a set up like this with the bowl and brush so I bought it. It doesn’t disappoint. The brush is soft and applies the soap very well. The razor is probably the most precise razor I have ever used. It shaves down to the skin very well. I nicked myself with it 5 times the first time but I attribute that to user error. The razor is way lighter than the ones I used, it is so light that it didn’t even feel like it was in my hand. It’s so light that you think it’s cheap but the metal feels like it has a solid make. Definitely a good purchase.

Classy, Bold, Professional, and a great gift.
US Army currently deployed overseas. My girlfriend got me this gift before I shipped out. Such a classy gift. She knows im into the 50s themed stuff but I like to save money (Save a ton on expensive cartridge refills like Gillette) This entire kit is impressive and gives you everything you need to start wetshaving / using a safety razor and its definitely a learning curve as I have never used a safety razor. After 3 months of use tho I have it down were I can get an extremely close shave unlike ever before without cutting myself. (If your new to using a safety razor you will nick yourself alot at first) I use Astra SS double edged Blades and got a pack of 100 blades for $15. I get two shaves with one blade. This has saved me a ton of money these passed 3 months and I still have 7 more months to go. My only complaint was the brush is beginning to degrade. Not the beaver hair, the actual handle is beginning to peel off a clear coat and the wood underneath to begin molding. Unfortunately I do not believe this is due to quality issues as it is more of an issue trying to keep this very nice kit dry while out in the field environment. I do believe a lid for the lather bowl would be a great addition to keep things out of it. So I will be replacing the Brush and the Bowl. But the safety razor, the carey bag, and the stand have all by far met my expectations. Update: I may have gotten a bad brush. The entire ball of badger hair popped out. Not a week after this review but about 4 months of daily use. Will be replacing with a better brush. But everything else the kit comes with is great.

Good Starter Set -- With Caveats
I've been wet shaving since I was around 13 years old. I learned to shave using a straight razor (I think my grandfather was getting back at me for something) and though I have jumped between cartridges, electrics, and wet I always go back to wet shaving. Recently I did a massive clean out of a dozen or more razors, countless soaps, blades, etc to the point where I had no wet shaving products left in the house. I went through my normal cycle of trying the new cartridges that were out there and...well...with every company getting woke I decided to go back to wet shaving. With that out of the way, let's get into the details of this kit. The stand is a nice, quality stand. The dopp bag is a nice canvas material and surprisingly roomy (it seems extremely crowded until you remove all the boxes.) The razor is not an aggressive razor so would work well for a beginner. I would compare it to a Merkur 34C in terms of aggressiveness. Good weight on the handle, though I wish the handle was shorter (longer handles can make getting the tighter spots a bit harder.) It's a fairly standard 3 piece design which makes it easy to clean. It's not a cheap razor and will stand the test of time. The soap — It's sandalwood, and the scent is not overly aggressive. Lathers easily and would work for bowl or face lathering. The blades — Not my favorite brand, but you will get 4 or 5 shaves out of each one. Just make sure you 'rotate' them after each shave (when you disassemble the razor check the orientation of the blade and flip it.) Now, let's talk about the weak part of the kit: The brush. It's a boar hair brush so by its nature it's going to be a bit rough when you start using it. This one, though, feels like it is mostly the lower parts of the mane so it is quite scratchy and irritating on the face. This will soften up overtime but if you face lather...it is not ideal. Not only is it rough, it sheds like crazy. Shave brushes shed for a few days, and that's normal, but this one is losing quite a few hairs. One good point in its favor is it has very little, if any, animal smell. My recommendation here is to swap this brush out for something better if you enjoy wet shaving. The Semogue Excelsior 830 is a great replacement and not expensive. So, overall, it's a good kit and not overpriced unlike some of them out there.

Just WOW!!!!
I have always been a cartridge shaving guy and I have always had to deal with ingrown hairs. After finally having enough I started researching it and came across wet shaving. After researching it extensively I was sold. I found this kit and figured it was a good place to start. 1. Because it had good reviews 2. It had everything I needed to start 3. My name is John and figured it was a sign!! Lol Packageing was great it all came individually boxed placed neatly in the traveling case. I was super stoked to try it out. There is definitely a learning curve to using it so watch several videos before starting as I did....or you might cut yourself or not get a good shave. The soap smelled great and was easy to lather. It fit nicely into the bowl. I would say the bowl is a little small and can make lathering it a little messy but great for a starter. I will probably get a bigger bowl in the future but good for now. The razor itself is great. Seems very well built and sturdy. Fits nicely into my hands. It does have the shorter handle so if you do have big hands it could be awkward to hold. It has a nice head with a good amount of weight to it. For the shaving part it was great. I got the smoothies shave I have ever had. Even my wife was like “wow”! It literally feels like a baby’s bottom. It’s my first shave so I will feedback in about a week or two about my ingrown hairs and if it’s solved the problem. The blades it came with did a great job. I might try different kinds just to see what’s out there but I am satisfied with what came. What was in the package was Astra superior platinum. The aftershave block it came with was different because I am used to balms but so far it has worked great and I have no irritation!! The bag seems to be pretty well made. The only thing I don’t like about it is it’s just an open bag and no pockets for the soap and bowl or for the razor...just a personal quirk of mine. The stand is very sturdy and has a pad on the bottom to keep it from moving around. I would highly recommend this shave kit and would give it 10 stars if I could!!

Great Quality, The Perfect Gift
The perfect set for Christmas for the man in your life! I recommend buying the additional pack of blades to stock up for a while. There is also an option to subscribe and save for those! I haven't seen my boyfriend travel with it, but the travel case would make a good travel makeup bag. Everything is very good quality, but keep in mind you may need to replace the brush eventually, it's just one of those things.

Excellent Starter Kit
I am by no means an expert in wet shaving and also have not tested other "starter" kits either. However, this is my introduction to wet shaving and oh boy this is an excellent product. The safety razor is sturdy, looks and feels strong and does the job right. The little bowl and soap included match perfect. I am sure there are better soaps than this one out there but it gets the job done. Decent lather and scent, plus it is soft on the skin. I don't really use the alum block as I already use other products for after shaving but guess is a nice addition. The stand just complemets everything looks so good in the bathroom. The brush first uses lost some bristles and was a little annoying but after maybe 2 or 3 uses it didn't lose any more. The carrying bag is a nice addition although I don't use this kit for travel, so I used the small pouch for other stuff. I am sure there are "better" more "pro" equipment for shaving out there (also more expensive), but this by no means are cheap or crappy. It is a very nice starting kit for the price.

The Wet Shaving Hype is Real. Closest Shave Ever
I received this product for my birthday. Safety Razor 3 piece 5 Astra Blades Puck of Shaving Soap Badger Hair Brush Bowl for Soap Stand Alum Block for razor burn Travel Kit. It was all delivered in a nice package. Razor is a good quality, probably $20-$25 razor not too aggressive with a decent weight. Brush is nice quality, Puck lathers well and smells like Sandlewood, Bowl is small, but not too bad, alum block soothes the skin after shaving an closes pores. Previously, I used Mach 3's, Harry's, Fusion, and had to shave every day. With this, it's 3 passes and I shave every other day. The shave is SO close, it's unreal. I've read where you get 4-5 shaves out of a blade, but I've used it 6 times and the Astra blades hold up well. The money you save wet shaving vs. cartridges over the long haul is incredible. The puck will last for 4-6 months, you can get 100 blades which will last over a year for $12, the alum block will last over a year. Less money and closer shave? Biggest no brainer in history.
