Fixed faint grinding noise
When my 8-year old Amana washing machine recently died, all I could hear was a faint grinding noise down below the agitator. It turned out to be the shifting motor which is mounted to the bottom of the transmission by two phillips screws. The fix was easy: tip the washer on its front, remove the two screws and a 6-wire plug, then exchange the shifter motor and put the screws and plug back in; about a 10 minute job. The other symptoms the washer had is it that it got stuck between the wash and spin cycles. The shift motor also has switches that need to make to tell the control to sequence to the next washing step, so when it fails, everything just sits there. I wish all repairs could be this simple. Before ordering a replacement, tip your washer and locate the shift motor and get the part number printed on it so that you know you are buying the right motor.

Doesn’t last long
What a frustration this piece causes.. I had installed it and 3 washes later it’s broken. I ordered a replacement and that one broke after ONE wash 😒.. it’s a hassle having to go under the washer every week and waiting for a replacement. Had to just buy the original piece with the manufacturer of my washer. VERY DISAPPOINTED!

One of the easiest parts replacement I've ever tackled
The washer shift actuator part went out in my Maytag washer which was about five years old. Thankfully I found some Youtube videos that convinced me that I could take this on. Sure enough I found the device and with two screws it was off. I found what I needed and BAM had it in two days.Knowing now what I wished I knew before I started this little project is that I should have ordered this part first. Because I don't want to write a novel here, I recommend watching several videos on doing a repair like this. The first part was cheap but a real pain in the neck for me to get it out. Turned out it didn't fix the problem and I could have probably left it in there. It made sense to me afterwards that as many heavy loads of laundry we do weekly that this small but mighty part would be what I should have gone with first. Save yourself some strain and go with this part first. It's not expensive and it was so dang easy to replace compared to other parts inside the tub. I'm rather proud of myself for learning to fix this as I'm a small gal who is not used to taking a washer apart. But I'm so glad I took this on as I saved myself some much needed $$$.

Washer wasn't draining then would drain. wasn't cleaning clothes. Had a burning smell when running. couldn't figure out what was wrong. For $20 thought I'd change it. Washer working great now

Cheaper than a repair man... much cheaper!
My son checked the internet to determine what was wrong with the washer. We bought this part after finding out that this was what was needed. YouTube showed him how to fix it... and voila! Instead of spending well over $100 for a repairman and parts, the washer works!

Inexpensive Spare Part
Visually, the actuator looks like a generic of the Whirlpool labeled units I've replaced several times but is less expensive. The washer that goes through them in less than a year was disassembled and waiting for a missed delivery after the last failure so I bought this unit as a hedge against price hikes and waiting on parts to be delivered. It hasn't been installed and tested so I can't verify that it's a perfect fit but I've had enough experience with the machine to expect that it will be.10/15/2023 The washer failed again and I replaced the actuator with this product instead of the part from Supplying Demand that lasts about a year. This less expensive version lasted a week before it failed. Typical failure - plastic cam follower snapped off and left the washplate and drum locked as in spin mode.

Works
The media could not be loaded. Quick install. Oem part was going to take too long to ship. For the price even if it lasts half a year it’s fine. Easy part to access on my machine to swap out if it fails again. Will update if/when it fails.

Good price.
It matched up perfectly. The only difference is, mine was a 2.3 watt were as this one is a 4 watt.
