Easy
Just plug it in to the wall and done! After a small gas leak in my house I definitely feel more at peace with this. The beep is very loud- so if somethings not right, you'll know!

Unreliable
I bought two of these gas detectors for my home. One quit working within two weeks (no response from Seller when I notified them). The second gives false positives for Gas leaks. Dangerous to rely on this product for your own and /or your family's safety. I see now the item is NO Longer Available. Hmmmm?, I wonder why?

Just got the unit and plugged it in. So far OK but have no idea if it really works.

Good unit. My (limited) tests verify some key operational specs.
I’m favorably impressed with this combustible Gas Alarm, which I tested as follows:TEST #1I first plugged the Gas Alarm into the wall socket above kitchen counter, started my smartphone’s sound recorder roughly 50 ft away in our master bedroom (same floor as kitchen, opposite end of ranch house), closed the bedroom door, and waved a slight flow of propane in front of the Gas Alarm (using an UNLIT propane torch). Over a few seconds, the following happened, consistent with responses specified in the instruction leaflet.• LEDs on the front panel blinked red.• The single digit display increased in value.• Double chirping alert (not terribly loud) sounded when the displayed number was low.• Faster triple chirping alert (not terribly loud) sounded when the displayed number rose toward ‘8’.• A loud wailing siren sounded when the displayed number rose to ‘9’.Alarm 'hearability' results: the smartphone's sound recorder did not pick up the WARNING chirps. However the smartphone DID record the wailing SIREN when the gas concentration rose above hazardous levels.TEST #2I repeated the same test with the smartphone’s sound recorder located about 50 ft away in the opposite end of the BASEMENT from the upstairs Gas Alarm location; the basement door was closed. Results: nearly identical to the results of test #1.COMMENTThe Gas Alarm is powered with 100-240 volts AC (2 or 3 watts power) and therefore must be plugged into an electrical outlet. Placement of the unit is important. For NATURAL gas, which is lighter than air, the Gas Alarm should be located near the prospective hazard CLOSE TO THE CEILING (typically 0.3 meters from the ceiling) where natural gas tends to collect and outlets are not often installed — and where the use of an extension cord may not meet local codes. Therefore, you may need to install an additional outlet at the proper Gas Alarm location.By contrast, LPG (liquefied petroleum gas — most typically propane in my area or potentially butane), is heavier than air. Therefore, a properly-positioned electrical outlet must be located as close to the floor as possible (typically 0.1 meter). An existing outlet MAY be sufficient.CONCLUSIONSThe Gas Alarm seems to work as specified, and it’s wailing alarm was sufficiently loud to be heard 50 ft away behind closed doors, both on the level at which the Gas Alarm was located and one level below. (For a not-too-big two story house, I’d anticipate that occupants on the second floor could hear the wailing alarm as well.) However, occupants may NOT be able hear the double and triple CAUTION and WARNING chirps unless they’re in the same room as the Gas Alarm — and therefore may not be alerted until the combustible gas concentration in air near the Gas Alarm reaches hazardous proportions. Moreover, placement of the Gas Alarm is important, and the occupant may need to install a new electrical outlet to locate the Gas Alarm properly.I’m inclined to deduct a star from the rating because the WARNING chirps are not very loud, and because of the prospective need to install a new outlet for proper Gas Alarm location. However, as a scientist/engineer (who has designed equipment) I cannot fault the manufacturer for these limitations, which will probably be present with most any gas alarm of this type. Therefore, I give this unit a 5-star rating.
