Not bad for the odd job
I bought this because I wanted to run an Ethernet cable from the router in the hallway to my office, which is conveniently directly above it. As the cable I was using was already terminated at both ends, I figured just snipping one end off, running the cable through a small hole and re-terminating would be the best solution and as I'd done this kind of thing before. As it turned out, my forty-something eyes aren't quite as good as the twenty-something eyes were, so it took three attempts to get the tiny wires to seat correctly, but that's not a failing of this product.I was impressed with the crimping tool, which worked well and gave a good solid grip on the wires. It needs a little brute force, but I was prepared for that. Similarly, the connectors and boots appear to be well made, with no obvious flaws in them. The cable tester, however, is really only a basic end to end tester to check the wires are connected in the right order and doesn't check for whether they'll actually pass a network signal, so the only real test was to plug in a device and see what happens (which was the problem on my second attempt, I'd stripped off just a bit too much of the sheathing). As it was bought for a one-off job, I can't complain as it did do the job. I doubt it'd stand up to repeated use, though.

Quality piece of kit.
I've read some reviews on youtube regarding this crimper and they appear mixed, however, from a personal point of view these were brilliant, they crimped the leads fine and the cables worked first time.A few points to mention1:) - The wire cutter area on the bottom of the crimper have no guards or any safety, they are just essentially two razors bolted on and are fully exposed, be careful with this crimper, they cut fine but keep it away from kids.2:) - When putting the Ethernet plug into the crimping hole the crimper doesn't lock it into place, but it sits fairly snug, just make sure it's pushed in as far as it can go.All in all for the price (and some Ethernet crimpers can actually go upwards of £60 on their own), this is an absolute steal, not to mention you get the cable tester and a bag of plugs thrown in.Well worth having if you enjoy routing/networking or just spend alot of time with PC's.

Whats not to like at this price?
Always a bit dubious when an item looks too good to be true, but I didn't need to worry as this set is just what I needed at a very reasonable price. I have terminated 2 very short RJ45 cables with what appears to be zero signal loss. This is a bespoke set-up and I could not have bought those very short leads commercially, so I would say the kit has already paid for itself. Few more cables to terminate once my new switching unit arrives, but confident that this kit will deliver again. If I was to be super critical, I would prefer pull through connectors as I find those easier to terminate, but as I said, for the money it is a great set. I should add that the punch down tool also has outer insulation cutter which is a nice touch.

WARNING DO NOT LEAVE TESTER UNATTENDED
The Network Cable Tester provided with this product is potentially DANGEROUS. After being left switched on testing a cable for approximately 5 minutes the plastic casing of the Master end of the test set started to melt causing the battery to overheat. Luckily I was present when it started to melt so managed to disconnect the red hot battery and avert a potential fire. I have returned the item and would be interested in what the seller/manufacturer has to say about the item. This is a shame really because the Crimping tool that came with the item is very good and the set was good value for money. I would strongly recommend however that the Network Cable Tester is not used unattended if used at all!

Ignore the bad reviews
Reading the reviews I didn't expect much from this product. However, I found it to exceed my expectations.1. The yellow wire jacket cutter tool is one of the best that I've used from my arsenal of cheap and cheerful items.2. The crimper is easy to use and crimped fine. Being a sausage fingered person I was worried about my ability to get this right... I got it first time and on every attempt thereafter.3. The tester worked well showing I got it right (50m worth of cable away)Overall I am pleased with this cheap and cheerful use rarely product. For a one off or couple of bits n pieces. I think it's good value for money.
