Not for the faint of heart but amazing!
This book is definitely not for the faint of heart! It was like reading a horrific nightmare filled with extreme horror and I loved it! The details were incredible and the storyline was amazing! It was an addictive page turner I couldn’t get it out of my mind long enough to give anything else my full attention until I found out the ending!

Good quick read. Had me gagging at the barn part. Won’t go into detail just read the book.
Great book! It’s was following me on Tik Tok and I was like fudge it let’s read it. The beginning is super slow, the middle is action packed and the ending was mid. The ending felt really rushed and just wasn’t too good but there is a second book so I don’t feel too upset about how it ended. I do plan to read “Son of the Slob”. I recommend this book tho it’s pretty good and the gore is off the charts. It is the first book I picked up like this so I may not be the best at saying what is good or not but I sure enjoyed this one.

By far from bad…..but very strange.
The media could not be loaded. This book has been following me all over tiktok and instagram and with that I decided to give it a read. I found this book very strange and bizarre. I’m a fan of horror and gore, as well as body gore. However, I feel like this book has gore for the hell of gore? It’s strange to say. A lot of things happened in this book but it didn’t really lead up to much but trauma toward the victims.I would go as far as saying that this book can’t be rated like a typical book. Because there were lot of faults and errors but a lot that I enjoyed.Writing: 5/5I loved how the story flowed very well and there was a steady pace and it was easy to read. I also believe this was well written in regards to the style and effortless flow.Plot: 3/5The plot in my opinion started off really interesting and engaging. But when Vera meets The Slob, I felt like from there on nothing made much sense at all. No women, despite how screwed up her childhood was or wasn’t, would see a ran down and disgusting house or man and follow him into the house. That was beyond unrealistic and flat out dumb to push your character in that directionThat being said I feel like the story was rushed to get Vera into the house of terror and for that the story suffered.Gore: ?/5I’ll leave you to read about the things that transpired but I will say writing the sickest things you can think of does not make your story more interesting or effective. Not to mention the things that happened to Vera should have, undoubtedly, killed her. So the realism was lost for me in the moments of torture. Go big or go home does not apply to everything. Especially here.Ending: 1/5The ending sucked for me. It didn’t melt together seamlessly at all. I felt like there were three separate stories going on. But I like the twist on homosexuality and the reasoning for the murders. Now that was unique and original. Loved it!Overall, I don’t know if I would recommend this book because it’s bad or good. It’s just strange and that’s another rating within itself. I didn’t like it but I didn’t not like it either.I don’t have any emotion at all really. The book accomplished what it might have set out to do and that being to gross you out and keep your turning the pages. Which is a win, right? But I will be buying the next book because some part of me wants to see how the story plays out. Which is a success for the author.Well done, I guess.-yoursecretmuse

New to this author, glad I read it. :-)
The Slob by Aron BeauregardI've not read this author before, I happened upon his book while looking at another, I'm glad I did.I absolutely LUV the horror genre, the bloodier & gorier the better. I'm not easily offended so writers like Matt Shaw, Jeff Menapace, Jon Athan, Bryan Smith, etc I luv to read. They're all fast paced and gripping, well detailed and ful of blood, gore, violence and usually language as well. That being said.......The Slob was a good read. It had parts that were disgusting, had rape, depravity, and told with clean languge. Honest, there was no foul languge at all. Hard to believe, I know. It was very well written without foul words.Vera had grown up in filth all her life, when she realized, at a young age, it wasn't normal she knew she had to do something about it since she knew no one else would. Especially on the day she was at school preparing to eat her lunch, she opened her lunch box and immediately saw the cockroach she had startled and squished under the wrapping her sandwich was in. Once she got home, in her room she decided then and there that she would devote her time cleaning her house, stating with her room. The accumulated years off dirt, dust, grime, spilled food & drink, animal, rodent & insect poo & pee was not the worst that Vera would have to clean up. Being ashamed of her house she didn't really have any friends and certainly didn't invite anyone over.In her adult years she had volunteered at a wellness type of clinic for wounded verterans. Which is where she met her husband, Daniel. Daniel was wounded on his last day in Vietnam, as he was getting ready to board his flight home shrapnel from a rocket hit his spine and caused paralysis. After she broke through the wall he'd built their friendship soon blossomed into romance, marriage and a home. Vera was also pregnant with their first child. Wanting more for their child than they had growing up Vera was insistant on earning more money for them. She had initially wanted more hours at the hotel where she worked unti the day the Bissell salesman appeared at her door with the newest model. From childhood she had become a serious clean and germ phobic and this Bissell was like a dream machine for her. After the initial demonstration she was convinced she'd be a natural at selling them. Daniel was afraid for her, going into strangers homes and being pregnant. She was finally able to convince Daniel to let her try it for at least a week. The money was easy and plentiful and Vera loved her job. A week turned into a few months. Vera and Daniel and finally agreed that Vera was to far along in her pregnancy and it was tme to quit at the end of the week. The day had come and Vera wanted to end her day with another sale that would give her another bonus. She was in a new territory, a rural territory on a lonely dirt road, just as she was about to turn around she saw a house. The closer she got the more run down she could see it was and it started to bring back childhood memories. She shook them off keeping her mind on the sale and returning home to Daniel. Approaching the door she noticed the bars on the windows but knocked anyway. After a few minutes she heard the heavy footsteps approaching the door. Once open and she immediately was over powered by the smell and condition of the big heavy set man that greeted her. After she gave her sales pitch and requested the chance to show him what the Bissell could do on his dirtest rug he allowed her to enter and took her upstairs to a bedroom. Once in the room she wondered why he chose this room, which wasn't nearly as disgusting as the rest of the rugs in the house. He gestured her to go to the other side of the bed.She knew what she was told to clean was just the beginning of her nightmare.........My opinion & review....I thought the vocabulary used was well thought out and well planned. I thought the story was good, it flowed well and there were a few surprises. However, after reading spatterpunk stories there are only so many ways for torture, rape, depravity, mutalation, etc that can be done to the human body. Although I did enjoy the break from the language used in splatterpunk, I felt that the story was tame in comparison. It was a fast paced page turner, I was anxious to find out the ending and what happened to Vera and Daniel. Also being 128 pages, Aron Beauregard did create a well rounded story and left the end open for a sequeal.I will look into other books by this author and would be happy to read them. I would recommend this author and this book. However, if your looking for a splatterpunk type of story you may (or may not) be disappointed. If you think this book may interesting read it and judge for yourself.Thank you for reading my review I hope it helps.

Boring and edgy
Very disappointing and not scary or gross. Simply boring and very try hard. The ending especially is utterly ridiculous and silly. If anything this book feels more like satire than horror.

Gruesome!
It was a really good book, but it was very gross, very graphic and very disgusting. Turned my stomach but I couldn't put it down. Small book so quick read but it was good, I've shared it with 3 girls at work who have all really liked it. Definitely need to take a breather around page 70.

The most gruesome splatter book I've read
Well.... I stumbled upon this book after reading a few splatter style books from another author. This one wasn't very long, read it in one evening. But it's very gory. Do not read this if you have a weak stomach or don't like gruesome Grisly reads lol. Needed to be a bit longer is my only complaint. Lots of detail at the beginning getting to know the details and the characters but not enough detail or info further in I thought. I shall read the second one now.

Extreme horror at its best
It was the first book that I found to be a splatter punk or extreme horror genre. Before I've read books by Sea Caummisar but Aron Beauregard is a different animal. The writing is top quality, character development, story it's all there. As not giving out the spoilers - it's really gory, filthy, gag inducing book. I just wondered how the writer came with ideas of such horrible stuff. I enjoyed it very very much! The only downer was the ending which in my opinion was not necessary, I would left reader with no answers and with more puzzles to answer for oneself. This book needs a prequel story of the main antagonist. All in all a must read for any extreme horror fan. It's no coincidence that this book is already considered as one of the extreme horror classics.

This book is utterly disgusting…5 stars!!
Like the title, this book is not for the faint of heart. The details are horrific and gut wrenching. God I will not get that meat scene out of my head…it’s amazing! I love books that traumatise me even the slightest, and this one had done wonders!! I will be buying the sequel, Son of the slob, and many other books. Thank you Aron!
