I absolutely love these super jumbo sized sponge filters.....massive, like a 1 gal bucket or coffee can....they come with two (2) airstones, this creates a much finer bubble which lifts more water, creating a larger volume of water being filtered than just a stream of single bubbles like the standard size filters, it's neccessary because of the surface area this filter has.....I have added 1 to all 6 of my large tanks & tub ponds ( 150g - 300g ) as a backup to the sump filters.....the reason being is that while away for 4 days, my sump level got to low on a 300g tank & stopped working....but the jumbo sponge filter was able to handle all by itself....kept the water clear & fish alive all by itself....9 large pacus, giant gouramis,knifes & arowanas...absolutely amazing to see....after that they are my new mandatory "must have" for all my tanks.

This filter is a bit larger than a Hydro Sponge V and also supports the use of an air stone. Unfortunately, it uses a medium-grade foam and not the coarse high flow foam as advertised, so it will clog more quickly and will not support higher water flow rates. If you need a coarse foam for pond application or messy fish, this is not the filter I would purchase. The Hydro Sponge Pro and Swiss Tropicals foam filters use the grade of foam you need, unlike this filter, and you will certainly save money too. I actually feel like I wasted my money buying this item.
