Excellent bracket.
I use several of these brackets to mount a 2.5" SSDs. Really works well in my old PC case. Solid design, quality construction and consistently accurate manufactured tolerances.

Engineering with a yardstick instead of a micrometer
Not very precise. With a slim CD in the top slot (shown open in the photo), it's about 1mm higher on one side than the other, and about a total of 2mm too high to allow the slim CD to open. So, it won't work in a caseworks that has any front cover (e.g., Dell GX620 SFF) that surrounds the tray. Too hard to mess with to try to modify, 'cause I'd have to move down the fold-out tabs that hold the slim CD/DVD by about 2 mm, or just cut them off, which leave the drive hanging only by elongated screws. It's a shame, really. Could have been a good product if they'd effectively lowered the slim CD slot by a couple of millimeters. BTW, I used it to mount a 2.5" 500GB in the lower part, reducing total power consumption and improving cooling...but, since I can't open the CD/DVD to install software, it goes in the trash.

works fine
Works as advertised. a slim optical drive and a hard drive in a 5.25" slot. it seems to be designed to allow two slim drives and there is a cover for the lower slim drive that will push in easily but only a quarter inch or so and still looks decent in the pushed state.

Great product. This adds an incredible amount of new variations to a desktop computer.
This product allows a variety of "small" drives and "small" drive combinations to fit into a 5.25" bay. It comes with a WIDE variety of screws and that was a lifesaver. I personally installed a SSD in the bottom and a slim DVD burner in the top and as a result I needed a weird mix of screw types and sizes -- I am VERY thankful that all of the screw types are provided! A word of advice to fellow customers, be sure to research the electrical needs of your devices. I made the mistake of failing to research the different types of power cables used by different devices and I had to order a power adapter later rather than ordering everything at once. I am sharing this information about the power adapters because others who buy this product might have the same issue. It should be noted however that this was my mistake and has nothing to do with the quality of the mounting bracket. I will probably buy more of these in the future.

Complete Garbage
Just ignore this bay adapter completely. First, the adapter didn't fit my standard 5.25" bay at all. It stuck out about 1/4" and I had to make modifications. Second, the CD drive tray cover doesn't sit flush with the face of the adapter. It sticks out about 2mm. The holes are misdrilled causing the top of the CD drive to rise above the top of the bay adapter by about 1mm. I can't modify that, however, because the face of the adapter (the opening for the drive tray) prevents the drive tray from sitting any lower. Ultimately, this was a waste of $18 + tax, shipping, the cost of epoxy, the time and labor involved to TRY to make it work.

Useful for installing two slim drives in 5.25in slot but beware of issues
Probably not many want to two install two slim drives in 5.25in slot but if you do:(a) The good news is that this bracket allows you to do it.(b) The bad news is that the bracket is a bit flimsy and not very precise. The one I got protrudes about 1mm outside my case. (Any full size drive I tried in the same slot fits flush). In addition, the bezel frames the top drive only on 3 sides, not the most esthetic arrangement if you care about such things, and if you install only one drive leaving the bottom with the filler, the filler is easily pushed in by mistake while fumbling with discs, and then you need then to either pull it back in some way, or open the case and push it from the other side.A few more things to know:(a) such brackets are hard to find. The only other brand I could find is Digistor DIG-23401. It is a made entirely of metal, a lot more solid, and the bezel forms a frame around both drives but it costs 50% more than the bytecc.(b) The slim drives will need adapters to integrate into your desktop. If you get a slimline SATA drive such as DS8A8SH you will need a slimline SATA to SATA adapter. Startech makes 3: A solid one that is nice but falls off easily, a short wired one that you connect to the main board with your own SATA cable + SATA power connector (this is what I have), and one with a built-in 20in SATA cable and a MOLEX power connector. They all work, it depends what fits your case best. If you have a slimline IDE (PATA) drive such as UJ-85J then you need something like Startech OPT2SATA but there are much cheaper variants can easily be found.

Works perfectly for me.
I have an external slim DVD drive and a large desktop, and thought it unsightly to have a hole where a thicker device would normally be, and this bracket fits perfectly and holds the drive just right.
