Perfect and so easy to put together
I wish I would’ve known about these seven years ago to keep my dogs out of my living room. I have been climbing over child gates and nearly breaking my hip every time. Grateful for this product. Purchased two different sizes and they are both terrific.

I will buy it again if I need more
I bought this gate after reading reviews online for weeks. I have it only for a couple of months, but it looks well built and does not have obviously weak parts to break in the near future.I have two doorways between the living room and the kitchen. I first bought an auto-close gate of another popular brand, it looked so beatuiful but I soon found the latch's too easy to shake open. You can imagine if a light weight gate can swing back and lock itself, how weak the lock feature has to be. I ended up tighting the gate to the point that nobody can open it. I cannot block both doorways like that, so I picked this gate for the other doorway.I can open and close the gate with one hand while carrying my child in the other. My 18 month old (she is very tall an strong in her age group) cannot open the gate though she can reach the latch, because the latch is very tight. The gate is easy to install and stay in place well. After my child went to bed, I can keep the door open. The openning is narrow, but my husband and I have no problem going through (we are middle size, both at around 150 pounds). This can be a PERFECT gate, but another mom's review about her child's hand got badly hurt by the tight latch concerns me. I tried myself and feel this type of event may not likely to happen but still possible. Anyway, the door is less dangerous than a regular door. While my child go through bedroom doors everyday and may get her fingers caught by those doors at any time (I need to child proof my doors soon), she rarely tries to go through this gate because she knows that she is not supposed to. I think I will train her to open the gate with both hands when she is old enough. Opening it with one hand is definitly more dangerous for children due to their less mature motor skills. This gate also has an extra tall version that may keep your children's fingers safe a little bit longer.

Really good gate
I'll start by saying that we now own four gates. This is the second-best one, and was the only pressure-mount gate with a door. The other pressure-mount gate we bought was fine, but not at all convenient for letting the dog go in and out since you have to fully take it down and then put it back up. If you plan on letting your child or dog or someone who can't easily climb over it walk through the gate sometimes, such that you want to be able to leave it open on occasion or easily open and close, this is a great gate to get. Very sturdy. Installation was easy, and no holes in the wall. We have a 40-inch opening, so it was hard to find another pressure-mounted gate with door to fit eh area without having to pay even more for extra extensions. With the two extensions this one came with, it worked fine. So great price. Also, since you adjust the pressure on the top and bottom mounts separately, the top and bottom can be slightly different widths, which is great for installing it on molding at the bottom of a wall or doorway. The only (minor) complaint I have about this gate is the handle/locking system for opening and closing it. Feels a little flimsy and awkward. Not as bad as the first gate I bought, but enough so that I wonder what will happen when our son starts really experimenting with trying to open it. But from what I've seen, it looks like the best pressure-mounted wide-space door gate on the market, and definitely at the best price.

Good gate
I have had this for 2 months now. Extended almost all the way for a 43” space. Has held up great even with my one year old standing and hanging on it. Super easy to open. Even one handed. It’s a little tricky one handed but my 4 year old can even do it with one hand so once you figure it out it’s easy. We love that it can stay open so when the baby isn’t around we don’t have to continually open and close it. It will slide along the wall if you (an adult) pushes it hard enough but it won’t move enough it falls over or anything just misaligns a tiny bit. It does come with cups you can attach to the wall to avoid that if setting it up on the stairs. I will buy another if I ever need to!

Excellent tension mount gate - used in 42" hallway
Nice looking gate! Quick install - 15 minutes total from taking it out of the box until it was set-up. It was set-up by someone with little/no assembly ability, so I'd consider it easy to install. Used the tension mount (instead of screwing into the wall) and it is very secure. Doorway is fine width to accomodate a male 6'2" and 195 lbs. The hallway it is in is 42" across (with baseboards at the bottom). Because each corner has it's own adjustable tension mount, it fits these dimensions very well (baseboard area is probably about 1-2" narrower than 42" across and all 4 sides adjusted perfectly). Both extensions (included in the box) were needed to accomodate this width. Will be used to keep a 20 pound Jack Russell Terrier out of a room. It was just put up, so I can't comment on how well it does that, but based on how secure it is right now, I don't think there will be any issues. I read Amazon reviews for many other gates and finally settled on this one. Would definately purchase another one of these if needed in the future. Highly recommend!!!

Facilidad

Doing a great job !
Have just bought it today and installed it. Installation is fairly easy, about 10-15 minutes. Even though there are one or two niggles, 5 stars because of how sturdy it is. We have twin one-year olds who have somehow gained the strength of Tarzans (two of them!) even though I am a weedy guy. Within minutes of installing it, they quality-tested each and every inch of the gate looking for a weakness. It's held steady and strong (so far ;-) ). The niggles were : Our kitchen doorway is at an awkward width of 34 inches. So stand-alone gate is too small for that width and with an extension is too big. I have improvised by not putting a screw at the top right corner. The latch is very tight. That's good so the kids can't open it but needs 2 hands so you can't come out of the kitchen holding a dish. Still 5 stars because of the sturdiness of Americana :-).

After much deliberation we decided on this hate for the top of our stairs
After much deliberation we decided on this hate for the top of our stairs. The price was right and the item shipped quickly but we soon returned it.The bars were flimsy and bent, and the opening to the gate was very tiny. I am not a large person at all and we had to turn sideways to comfortably step through. There is a wide bar across the bottom that was being tripped over often and the latch was pain to open and close.Might be a wonderful hate for the right person in the right spot, definitely didn't even come close to meeting our expectations

Not to be dramatic but I hate this item...
Bought this gate and another which was a different brand. Set up the other gate absolutely no problem. Also pressure mounted. Easy as could be. THIS ONE.... I wasted an hour of my time trying to install this one. Once I finally got in a good fit, it just seemed unsafe. The gate shakes, the latch is trash and NOT the one shown in the video. This latch is a complete pain to use with two hands let alone one. Would not trust it to keep my child safe at all. I never write reviews but this thing annoyed me enough to spread the word. Not worth your time in my opinion.

Keeps the pup away from my cats
My doorway is 80cm wide and the gate was just slightly too wide to fit. So we placed it between the door frame and the doors. In the gap under the hinge. It fits perfectly now, and my dog's already tested its strength, and I'm happy with its sturdiness. Unfortunately, we can't close the door. But at least this gate saves us from having to drill holes into the doorframe.Note: My older dog can jump over it. We don't mind, since the gate is meant to keep the pup away from the cats, and she can't jump that high. But it's something to consider. My older dog is a lab mix.
