Knocking Instructions: The Bat is Pre-Oiled using Linseed Oil, however very small quantity of oil can be used to rub the exposed surface of the bat and the bat should be kept for 24 hours in horizontal position before you begin to knock it. Do not over oil the bat as this will deaden the fibre of the timber and may affect the performance. Use an Old Ball or a Mallet to knock the cricket bat. For best performance it is recommended to knock the bat for at least 1 week using an old ball or a Mallet for minimum 30 minutes a day. The toe and the edges of the bat need special attention as they can not be hit directly while knocking. Instead one should use glancing blows off the face to harden and round these areas. One should gradually increase the force to knock the bat. Post Knocking you can use Anti Scuff Sheet to protect the edges of the bat. Use the bat in nets for 2-3 days before taking it for a match using a good quality old ball and if you still see seam marks on your willow, the stick needs a bit more knocking before it is ready for the match.
