Enhance Your Indoor Environment with Eve Room - A Game-Changer!
I recently had the pleasure of incorporating the Eve Room into my home, and I am delighted to share my positive experience. This smart device has truly transformed my living environment and helped me gain a better understanding of the air quality and climate conditions inside my home. Allow me to provide you with an in-depth review of the remarkable Eve Room. First and foremost, the setup process was a breeze. I simply downloaded the Eve app, connected the Eve Room to my Wi-Fi network, and within minutes, I had a comprehensive view of my indoor air quality. The seamless and intuitive installation process definitely earns Eve Room some major points. One of the standout features of Eve Room is its accuracy in monitoring air quality, temperature, and humidity levels. The device employs state-of-the-art sensors that provide precise and real-time measurements. I found this particularly useful, especially for someone like me who is conscious of maintaining a healthy living environment. Eve Room enables me to take proactive measures when necessary, such as adjusting ventilation or using air purifiers, to ensure optimal conditions for myself and my family. The accompanying Eve app is a true companion, offering a visually appealing and user-friendly interface. It presents detailed graphs and historical data, allowing me to track air quality trends over time. The app's notifications feature is fantastic, alerting me whenever certain thresholds are exceeded, giving me peace of mind that I am always informed and can take immediate action if required. Another noteworthy aspect of the Eve Room is its compatibility with smart home ecosystems. As an Apple HomeKit user, I was thrilled to find that Eve Room seamlessly integrates with the HomeKit platform. This integration enables me to automate various actions based on air quality readings, such as turning on an air purifier or adjusting the thermostat. It has made my home smarter, more energy-efficient, and conducive to a healthier lifestyle. The design of the Eve Room deserves a special mention. With its sleek and elegant appearance, it effortlessly blends into any room decor. The display on the device itself is minimalistic yet informative, providing a quick snapshot of the air quality with a color-coded system. The battery life is impressive as well, lasting for months on a single charge. Lastly, I must highlight the exceptional customer support provided by Eve. Any queries or concerns I had were promptly addressed by their knowledgeable and friendly support team. They truly go above and beyond to ensure a seamless experience for their customers. In conclusion, the Eve Room has exceeded my expectations in every aspect. From its effortless installation to its accurate monitoring capabilities and seamless integration with smart home ecosystems, it has become an invaluable addition to my home. If you prioritize a healthy indoor environment and desire a device that is both practical and aesthetically pleasing, I wholeheartedly recommend the Eve Room. It is a game-changer that brings comfort, control, and peace of mind to your living space.

Much Improved IAQ Sensor!
In 2018, the second generation of Elgato’s Eve Room air quality sensor debuted, and some pretty big changes came with it too. The Eve Room sensor detects temperature, humidity and air quality; and is compatible with HomeKit, Apple’s home automation system. Although the temperature and humidity sensing capabilities have more or less remained the same, the Eve Room’s air quality sensor has received a substantial upgrade. Another huge upgrade is the way the Eve Room gets power. The first of the 3 most significant changes to the Eve Room is that is no longer guzzles AA batteries. Instead, it has a USB power cord and a rechargeable battery! Nice! The rechargeable battery will last for 6 weeks before it needs to be recharged, which is just about perfect. It gives us the convenience of AC power and at the same time portability if we need it. This addition alone might have been enough for me to buy the new Eve Room, but there is so much more. The new Eve Room 2nd Gen has a new volatile organic compound (VOC) sensor, the SGPC3 by Sensirion. Historically, the sensitivity of MEMS MOS gas sensors degrade over time, with a very significant drop after 2 years of use. The new Sensirion sensor’s sensitivity won’t degrade over time. That’s a pretty big technological advancement that adds quite a bit of value to the device. This ensures that the sensing capabilities of the Eve Room 2 will remain excellent throughout its ten year lifespan. The way the second gen Eve Room outputs its VOC data is improved too. The 1st gen Eve Room converted its VOC data into equivalent carbon dioxide (CO2) measurements, which is not really the best data to judge the quality of indoor air in a home or small space. The 2nd gen, however, outputs the pure TVOC data. As a result, VOC events are seen more accurately on the Eve app’s graphs as spikes that come and go quickly. VOC events are typically sudden and disappear just as suddenly. So, the 2nd gen Eve Room actually gives us a truer picture of what is going on in our homes, at least as far as VOCs are concerned. The air quality scale that the device uses is based on VOC research from Europe, who are currently ahead of the U.S. in VOC studies in the home. With the new scale also comes some additional recommendations such as exposure times for each level and "Hygenic ratings" which primarily have to do with comfort. The excellent Eve app on the iPhone has thankfully remained much the same. All the graphs, time comparisons, etc. are still all there. A++ A change that I was thinking would be a big one but isn't, is the new e-ink display. E-ink displays are found most commonly on e-readers such as the Nook. If you shine a light directly on it, you can see it. But it's all but invisible from across the room. It just blends in with the shadows... which isn't necessarily bad. If the display was lit, the device would stand out in the room. Because the e-ink display is unlit, and the new Eve Room's size is much smaller, it blends in even better... which is a good thing. I know a lot of work went into designing the e-ink display, but I'm sad to say that if my Eve Room 2 was replaced with a version that didn't have an e-ink display, I wouldn't even notice. In general, I’m very happy with the new Eve Room. It’s definitely an upgrade from the earlier version. I like its smaller size and how it’s not as noticeable in the room, I love the power cord, and I am very happy with the VOC sensor upgrade. The decision to drop the estimated equivalent CO2 readings and settle on just measuring VOCs was a good one I think. Overall, it’s a great little device that I can highly recommend. Failed inside of 1 year (but fixed!)
I have an Eve Room that I purchased from Amazon November 18th, 2018. It has been set up and available in HomeKit and the Eve app on my devices since then. Yesterday it started showing in HomeKit as "no response." I deleted the accessory from HomeKit. I tried resetting it and re-adding it. Every time I attempt this I get the error message: "Accessory already added - To add this accessory to your home, you'll need to reset it first." So then I press the reset button on the back of the Eve Room and try again scanning the QR code with HomeKit, and get the message: "Accessory not found - Make sure your accessory is powered on and nearby." However, the display on the Eve Room does change. The "..." disappears from the leaf in the center of the screen, as if it did connect. Eventually it will come up with: "Couldn't add accessory - Home couldn't connect to this accessory" If I hit cancel and try again I get the accessory already added message, and am stuck in an infinite loop. WiFi and Bluetooth are enabled on my iPhone and I am connected to my home WiFi network. This was a $100 purchase at the time, and was less than a year ago. If the device has failed I'm hoping it can be replaced under warranty. Have contacted Eve support and was assigned case # 2299235. Will update this review if they are able to help. Update: Eve technical support suggested a complete reset of the device. This procedure worked and allowed it to be re-added to HomeKit. Shouldn't have had to do that in the first place, but it is working now and so I'll increase my rating from 3 to 4 stars.

Disappointing upgrade
I have three of the previous model distributed throughout the house, and with moving one from our bedroom to the second kids room I thought I would get the newer model. How wrong I was. The newer model (this one) is about a quarter of the size of the old ones but with a tiny e-ink display. It is not powered by batteries but has a built-in rechargeable battery. What it displays is not configurable. Why not? It measures temperature, humidity and VOCs - why not allow users to focus on one or all three. The accuracy of the thermometer is OK; the humidity sensor is mmmm I don’t know. What lets the unit down is the battery. It supposed to last for “weeks” but if you get a fortnight out of it it’s a record. I have a power cable next to it so I don’t have to look for it when I need it every 10-14 days, but what’s the point of this poor battery performance? I change the (rechargeable) batteries of the old units once every 6-8 weeks - not an issue. So- pass on this one and get the old model.

Nice app, works with HomeKit.
First off, I bought this mainly because it works well with HomeKit. It was super easy to setup and link to my HomeKit. I wanted another air quality sensor for the house. And mine appears to be pretty close to showing what other devices in my home show, which is a good thing! For what the device is, It works well for my needs. However, my air purifiers have air quality sensors in them, and because it has a fan they detect air changes quicker than this does. But I love how this little unit will stay charged for a month or two. And the app can provide some added detail, along with graphs you can export. Very handy!! The screen on the device leaves much to be desired. In all honesty, I would like the option to turn the screen completely off. It’s not very bright, hard to read and see. I sort of sit it someplace and forgot it. Using only my Home app to view it’s information, which I love! It looks alright, and blends in to any setting. It’s small too, would have liked to see a bit bigger unit for a larger battery. But you can always plug it in I suppose. It’s a good product for the price. Being HomeKit supported is great! I would recommend, and will likely buy the outdoor weather one next.

It can be made to work
The Eve Room works very well but the battery charge only lasts a week or two. One can leave it plugged into a USB power supply but eventually it will lockup and have to be hard reset. I thought maybe it just needed a better USB power supply. Something with less noise. So I tried an Apple unit. That seem to help some but it still would lockup. I also considered building or buying a low pass filter to remove noise spikes on the power supply. That seemed like a lot of work. So first I tried a software solution. I set up an Eve automation that looks at the battery voltage (Yes you can see that. It is under "Types") and when the voltage is around 40% I turn on the a smart plug The Smart plug controls the USB power supply. Then when the battery voltage hits 100% the smart plug turns off. Using this system I have locked up once in 6 months. Around November 2022 Apple did a HomeKit software upgrade. This caused Eve automation to become very intermittent (google it). This has went on till a couple of weeks ago where something changed. It appears either Apple or Eve has fixed the issue. Or at least the automation is now working again and the output seems faster. Why did I buy the Eve Room? I wanted to control the humidity in a room. I have the dehumidifier plugged into a Smart plug and when the humidity gets too high it kicks on. When it get too low it kicks off (See enclosed image). This setup works very well.

Eve Room, a HomeKit device looks and works great
The 2nd generation Eve Room is a big improvement over the original Eve Room. This latest HomeKit device from Eve Systems measures and records the air quality (VOC), the temperature, and the humidity of your room. It now comes with a nice display (4 options of displays that you can toggle on the screen) in a sleek aluminum body. This new version of Eve Room is rechargeable with a Micro USB port, unlike the original Eve Room, which needed 3 AA batteries to be replaced every 3 months. At full charge, this Eve Room is supposed to last for 6 weeks. It was a simple process for me to register it with my iPhone. I opened Eve app, clicked "add accessory", and followed simple steps including scanning the code on the unit. Now I can read the data from my iPhone as well as on the unit's display. I have AppleTV so I can check the data remotely even when I am away. It is good to read the temperature and the humidity, but the biggest benefit for me is the VOC sensor, which measures the air quality of the room. If Eve Room shows the air quality is poor, it's a good time for us to open a window for some fresh air. With small children around, I would like to keep the air quality good all the time!

Air quality measurement unusable, so just get eve weather instead
Measured against four other units: my thermostat, HomePod mini, Govee, temperature, monitor, and a meat thermometer. temperature: The Eve room was 1.2 to 1.5° higher than all other units, which were all within 0.5° of each other. humidity: the Eve was about 3% off but that is insignificant. In the process of testing, I discovered that my thermostat was 8% higher than other units. Air quality: completely wacko. After several hours saying I had basically no VOCs, I took it outside to calibrate. Bringing it back in, the VLC reading went up. When I put it in the refrigerator for a temperature test, that readings shot up to 8000 µg. After that, it never really came down. Putting it outside, the reading was 411 µg on my Porch. Taking it to a friends house on a 1 acre lot placing it outside outside of town, it was “inferior“ at 600 or 1000 µg. (Inferior) inside her air purified house, Back in my house, it was 3000 or 4000 µg and would not change. Back outside, it never got below 411. back inside again, it stuck at 3776 and stayed there even when I put it back outside to try calibrating again. Note that there were several hours in between each reading. After resetting the unit, it was 36,000 µg. It won’t change. even after putting it on my porch, completely unfit for purpose. Accurate testing for formaldehyde and other extremely small VO see particles requires units costing quite a bit. There is no documentation of how this supposedly measures anything. Also, the $11 Govee Bluetooth unit is more accurate. Readings on the Eve home are taking no more frequently than 10 minutes (for the first several days, it was no more frequently than an hour), making it unusable for, say, automating, a portable AC unit. Given that the eve weather is actually less expensive, there is no reason for this unit to exist. my house should have fewer VOCs than most. It is historic, with old growth lumber, wood floors, wool rugs, leather furniture, drafty with outside air, and the gas range is vented to the outside. Also cotton shirts and vinegar as my main disinfectant.
