Ladies and gentlemen…we have a WINNER!!
How to Tame a Beast in Seven Days was bloody awesome. I was picked up from my world and dragged into another, where good fights evil, love conquers all and what you see isn’t what you get. We are treated to a paranormal fantasy romance that captures your attention from the first page. The settings, dress and hierarchy made it feel like a historical romance which was something that I loved. The characters are made up of ordinary people mixed in with the extraordinary. I loved stepping into this world and I honestly didn’t want to leave. Lucky for me…this is just the start.I have attempted to write this review for more than an hour. It’s just not working how I want it to. I want you to nod your head and say - ooh, I love that too (in my favourite reads). I want you to think - I love historical romance, maybe a paranormal fantasy wouldn't be so bad after all. I want you to read my mind and see what I saw, felt what I felt and lived what I lived...from the very first page.Let’s just say I was BUZZING!!I loved meeting the characters in the story. The strength and courage they showed living with abilities they were born with but punished for having. Seeing their vulnerability when they are ostracised and shunned because they are different. Amazed at their ability to forgive the uninformed and ignorant. Frustrated when one too many turned their back on the characters and made them feel hated, unlovable and disgusting. The storyline was exciting and full of action and adventure. There was never a time that it dragged or felt unnecessary. I was dying to get back to it every time life got in the way and I had to shut down my kindle. As the pages turned I wanted and needed to know more. The love story and intimacy is slow burning but completely understandable. When that first connection comes it is pure magic. I needed it as much as the characters did. My heart settled and my smile grew. Even Beasts deserve happiness. Even the unwanted can feel needed. How to Tame a Beast in Seven Days is definitely going to my best of the best shelf and I can’t wait for more in the series. I know this review is a bit of a bloody mess, but I’m sure you’ve worked out that I really, really loved it.

Great start to a New series
"Never touch the Beast."Never let the Beast touch you."FINAL DECISION: Very enjoyable first book in a news series, and I can't wait to read more. The story of two people whose supernatural gifts haunt them both. They manage to find love in an arranged marriage where danger and death surround them.THE STORY: Raised on the Isle of Moon and believing herself an orphan, Luciana was aware that she is one of the Embraced (those born on a night of eclipsing moons who have supernatural powers) but did not know her true lineage. When her father appears in her life, she discovers that if she doesn't marry the Beast of Benwick, her father will be killed. However, if it is discovered that Luciana is actually impersonating her dead sister, both she and her father will be killed. Lord Leofric, aka the Beast, is also Embraced. He has the power to use lightning, but that gift comes with the cost that he can kill people with his touch. Ordered to marry by his uncle the king (who also happens to want Leo dead), Leo expects a loveless marriage of circumstances, until he meets Luciana who is far more than he expected.OPINION: A new series kicks off with a bang with the introduction of a world in conflict. A man who hasn't been touched since he was a child because of his "gift" and a woman who is forced to impersonate her dead twin and hide every facet of herself. When the two marry, their gifts complicate their lives.A new series, especially in the paranormal/fantasy romance arena can involve a lot of explanations and worldbuilding which impedes the progression of the plot. While this book is the first book in the new series, it largely avoids the extended explanations which can slow down the story.Instead, the story has a most intriguing hero. A man who is tormented by his own gift. Leo is a man who cares enough about the people of his uncle's realm that he wants to protect them even as they fear him. A warrior, Leo has sacrificed much and his fits has separated him from others. Immediately he sees something in Luciana and as the two navigate their marriage, there is humor along with the political intrigue and danger.Luciana is sweet and being convent raised, she is a bit naive. This leads to some amusing situations with her new husband. One thing is that Luciana is almost too sweet, but she is never annoying. Her generosity and genuine caring for other people gives her depth and while innocent in many ways, she is not ignorant of the world.I loved the humor and sweetness between Luciana and Leo even as the story dips into political intrigue and death. The story has a nice balance to it and I really look forward to reading more about this world as the series unfolds.WORTH MENTIONING: There are all types of supernatural powers in this world. Elves and shifters, witches, those who harness the elements, and those who see the dead. Because being one of the Embraced is such a danger, there is much still to discover about these people.CONNECTED BOOKS: HOW TO TAME A BEAST IN SEVEN DAYS is the first book of The Embraced series.STAR RATING: I give this book 4 stars.NOTE: I received an ARC of this book via Netgalley in order to provide a review. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions contained herein are my own.

Ooh, the Beast
Yep, he is a hunk a hunk. Sigh.... And the story was good too. Everyone but his closest friends are afraid of the Beast. Rumors of the Beast killing innocent persons abound. But actually, it's the Beast's life that is in danger. Sad when those who should love and protect you want you dead. But the Beast is hard to kill. And when his enemies go after the innocent woman that he was pledged to, well, the Beast does deserve his name when those he cares about are in danger. This was a great book. I loved the characters. More than one murder occur, and a surprising killer is on the loose. The story was fast paced and definitely kept my attention.

Great new series!
Loved this new series from Kerrelyn Sparks. A totally different direction from her Love at Stake series. This book had a great set up from the beginning so you have an idea of a beginning, but that too changes as the story develops. Not sure after I finished where the base story line is going as far as the Twin Moons or Sun religion goes, but will be fun to see what happens next. I loved the different 'gifts' that some of the characters have, some have seen before, some are new. The story moved along at a good pace, to say I wasn't able to put down for long :-). All the main characters are easy to relate to & very entertaining, I think I have good muscle mass too! lol Would love to also have Brody as part of my family too. Can't wait for the next book, write fast Kerrelyn! :-)

Addictive!
I’m a loyal fan of the Love at Stake series so this different but had the same witty romance you come expect from Kerrelyn Sparks’ books. Really liked it and can’t wait to read the next book in this series. Leo and Ana were such a cute couple, you just root for them from the start!
